AU PLANNING MEME
Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Character Name: Mami Tomoe
Canon Name: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Brief History: In canon, Mami is a magical girl who hunts monsters called Witches. She is an unfortunate young woman who conned by Kyubey, a strange immortal creature, into giving up her humanity -- and eventually becoming a Witch. She never learns that (...in the main timeline). She is cheerful, elegant, and confident outwardly, but this hides a deep sense of loneliness.
AU Ideas: Mami is a Valkyrie from Citadel in BNW's world. Like canon, her parents died when she was young; she joined the Valkyries instead of going into being a scholar, diplomat, or performer. She is an ace Valkyrie, who has won a reputation for being quite fast and effective; she is something of a rising star among the Valkyries, so people may have heard of her. If you lived in or around Citadel, you might have heard of Mami.
Feel free to read her app here if you want the full background!
Also, Mami is eighteen instead of fifteen to keep her (somewhat) older girl thing for the setting.
Looking For: Friends! Also younger girls that she can look after. Enemies too! And people she can bake and sip tea with.
Anything else?: Mami loves cake. And guns.

Character Name: John Egbert
Canon Name: Homestuck
Brief History: Originally a normal kid living in Washington. He decided one day to play a fun new computer game that ended the world. Now he and his friends have to fight through the game to hopefully create a new universe, but surviving is proving to be the harder goal to achieve.
John is, despite being a warhammer toting, reality defying, sixteen-year-old with near god-like powers, a complete goober and nerd. He has a love of terrible movies, pranks, magic tricks. He's honest to a fault, a little feisty, but generally well meaning. He cares a lot about his friends and isn't afraid to take a bullet if it means keeping them safe.
AU Ideas: SO mostly I am testing the waters for interest. I've had John in the game before WAAAAY back at game start. He was a Ghost/Poison Gastly shifter and secret member of the Divine Defense Force. I didn't have him in the game for long so I didn't get much beyond that. He was the original working leader of the team before he gladly passed it onto Ogami.
NOW. For what he's been doing all this time. I figured he'd spent some time in school at his Dad's request but also I'm thinking he got sent out on a mission and wound up beyond reach of the warp bands since he would have left before they got their upgrade.
He won't be coming back until after this recent plot because SURPRISE he's probably going to have been either near or in Sanctuary this whole time. Oops. If all goes well he'll be coming home with everyone else.
And then he'll go back to the theater and try to catch back up. SO THERE YOU HAVE IT
Anything else?:
Despite the gif he's not actually very windy in this game, I wanted to follow a different path with him and play on more of his interests instead (I have played windy johns for literally four years ok) though i may still rework his enlightened abilities, we will have to see.

Character Name: Natsumi Hikari
Canon Name: Kamen Rider Decade
Brief History: A young tsundere woman who took in an amnesiac jerk who ended up being revealed as Kamen Rider Decade, the "Destroyer of Worlds". She travels with him, her grandfather, and a few others in their dimension-hopping photo studio in an attempt to save all the worlds from merging and thereby being destroyed.
AU Ideas: Obviously, no world-hopping here! She's a third-generation Unionite who helps run her family business, the Hikari Photo Studio. The grandfather in question is a Malamar Shifter who migrated to Union when he was a young Inkay years and years ago, but is mostly harmless these days. She's a Psychic-type Egg Master who's actually a decent photographer herself! She' been staying out of the whole "fighting Gigas" deal and focusing on her family business...
Until a certain amnesiac jerk ends up in her life, dragging her into this whole mess. Presumably.
Looking For: Anyone involved in the photography field, either as customers or fellow photographers. Also, anyone that may have grown up with her as classmates and such. Of course, if her pending castmate Tsukasa is also accepted, anyone that deals with him will most likely end up getting to know her, since she's the one that helps keep him in line most of the time.
Anything else?: She has a very mean thumb

Character Name: Excellen Browning
Canon Name: Super Robot Wars: Original Generation
Brief History: Excellen is a sniper mecha pilot pervert mom and also part alien due to an accident that nearly killed her. Also has an alien clone and a parallel world version of herself.
Yeah, SRW is complicated.
AU Ideas: Excellen is a member of the Steel Battalion, formerly serving under Thorin Oakenshield. When she was younger (probably between 12-13), she, along with a few other student-cadets, were caught in the conflict between Gigas and Caldera near Sanctuary. Only she, along with one other student (Kyosuke Nanbu) survived. However, very seriously injured, Excellen was taken in by people of Sanctuary--outside of Gigan jurisdiction--due to proximity, as well as due to the power of certain magi healers. She was released months later and brought back to Caldera. Due to the nature of her injuries, she wouldn't return to training for another year or so.
Excellen has been serving as a soldier since she was 18, and is an extremely gifted sniper and Engineer. She was recently re-assigned to Union in order to bolster their fighting force. She will be a Flying/Normal Engineer.
Anything else?: Excellen is an insatiable flirt, and loves to tease people. Hide yo kids hide yo wife cause Excell-oneesama's coming to town.

Character Name: Kadoya Tsukasa
Canon Name: Kamen Rider Decade
Brief History: ONORE DIKEIDO!
Anyways, he is amnesiac jerk who wandered into a photo studio one day and ends up finding out that he is actually the Destroyer of Worlds, the former Great Leader of DaiShocker (one of those huge evil empires that connects to all the evil empires EVER) and Kamen Rider Decade. He has a bunch of adventures with the gang at the Hikari Photo Studio, traveling worlds and being a pest and sometimes 'accidently' killing all the Riders until a tsundere woman turns into a Rider and kills him.
And then her and his buddies Yuusuke and Daiki recreated him from nothing and they go on all sorts of adventures.
AU Ideas:
There is no world/dimensional hopping or anything. He is still an amnesiac jerk that is wandering around the country side with his Purrloin and a camera trying to figure out where he is suppose to be and what he is suppose to be doing when he's there until this tsundere woman takes him in because someone has to make sure he is behaving.
What I have planned is that he is a God of War with initial Dark-typing that had been a very rich person who, after losing his parents, started developing Enlightened abilities and was taken in by a trusted family retainer in order to train him into a soldier for something. He ends up in the clash of armies probably leading a small group and gets some serious damage that lands him in the care of people who do manage to put him together but he forgets that he is suppose to actually not like the Union side of things.
Looking For: People that might have actually fought him at one point in time, people that might want to befriend him, people that are willing to call him on his BS.
Anything else?:

Character Name: Ranka Lee
Canon Name: Macross Frontier
Brief History: TINY GIRL SINGS TO BUG ALIENS WITH HELP FROM THE IDOL SHE IDOLIZES, LOVE AND MUSIC SAVE THE WORLD, and idk some boy is window-dressing
AU Ideas: I'm thinking Ranka's mother was a Bug-type Enlightened from the Citadel, researching/spending time around a bunch of Nincada because she just wants a little love for the bugs of the world? And then whoops it's evolution season and they shed and she's pregnant and stares into the Nincada's back-hole black hole and it's the equivalent of the canon virus that transfers to baby Ranka to give her Kindred Spirit and a Bug type.
(Fighting would be appropriate for her Zentradi heritage but I'm kinda sweeping that into "it's her bug-type hair" and "they're from the Citadel so it's fighting ladies"; Fairy is probably her primary type because of all the singing and BUG FAIRIES OKAY??)
...anyway, failed exorcisms around Ninetales Vale, mom is pretty much only good for teaching Ranka her trademark song, some kind of bug-type catastrophe leaves Ranka with amnesia and PTSD and thinking her whole family is dead, swept up by Ozma (soldier from Union or Caldera?), eventually allowed to run off and live in Union to pursue her musical dreams.
Looking For: Parallels for Brera and/or Ozma would be so cute I'd die -- amnesia cyborg older brother and secretly-still-military ex-military adoptive big brother. Idols idols idols idols idols idols idols.
Idiot Flying-type boys and singing girls to crush on equally.Anything else?: tl;dr had too much coffee and very excited so you get the word-vomit version instead of the coherent one, i'm so so sorry

Character Name: Hikaru Ichijyo
Canon Name: Macross
Brief History: A stunt flyer joins the military to save the world from giant aliens that turn out to be people, falls into a triangle, macross ensues
AU Ideas: In canon, Hikaru was a stunt flyer from a family of the same. I was thinking he could be involved in training flying types for pokebirb aerobatic displays. He's pretty easy to background. His type has pretty much got to be flying, no question about it. Maybe just sort of traveling from place to place performing with birbs? He could join the pseudo-military with birbs as his story continues, get dragged into it, that be fun
Looking For: Love Triangles? A sempai? Idols?
Anything else?: Pokemans that look like giant robots can also apply

Character Name: Danny Fenton
Canon Name: Danny Phantom
Brief History: A socially outcast 14 year old dork who really wanted to be an astronaut until his mad scientist/ghost hunter parents' portal to the ghost zone half-killed him and turned him into a ghost/human hybrid with 2spoopy powers. Now he fights evil ghosts and tries to balance his life as Amity Park's new much-maligned ghostly superhero with his life as a human highschooler, all while struggling to gain control of his ghost powers and keep them a secret from everyone around him. including his parents. especially his parents.
AU Ideas: Tentatively planning for him to be from outside of Union! probably born in Caldera originally, but his parents move around a lot trying to investigate the world's spookiest places for their ghost-type research and they drag their kids with them, so he's lived in a few places and wasn't living there when the war with Gigas really began heating up. Danny and his family recently moved to Union so his parents could study the forest shrine and the connection to ghosts/the spirit world that part of the population has.
I'm thinking of trying to mirror Danny's canon situation in that Danny wasn't born Enlightened; after moving to Union, his parents try to develop a Ghost-type Enhanced item that performs a similar "bridging" effect to that done by mediums only WITH SCIENCE!, something happens that results in Danny getting zapped by it, and suddenly we have a Ghost/Normal Enlightened who may or may not be half-dead. (i'm thinking Kindred Soul for his ability but that's up in the air right now!)
Looking For: spoopy types to help him get control of his powers
shamelessly pranking him and making his life difficult is also an acceptable alternative! fellow teenagers for him to make friends with. maybe anyone from outside of Union who might have met him while his parents were dragging him and his sister over most of the known world? i would also love enemies or antagonistic CR honestly YOU CAN GO FOR ANYTHING.Anything else?: i apologise in advance for the amount of terrible puns this boy makes. union is not ready.

Character Name: Clif Fittir
Canon Name: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Brief History: Brawler with a heart of gold is secretly the founder/under cover member of an anti government organization and ends up abducting a college kid who may or may not have the power to save the world. He's huge, friendly, likes to tease, and is much smarter than he looks.
AU Ideas: I'm still working on the details here, because Cliff is a tad tricky for me to AU and maintain lots of his canon elements-- but, I'm running with the idea of him being a Calderan Earthkin, God of War with the fighting/flying/steel types. He was probably in a mid-level command position in the military before he willfully surrendered to prevent the rest of his unit from being annihilated. It ended badly-- all of his pokemon team were MIA/KIA, and much of his unit still fell-- and he ended up in a Gigas prison. The only reason he wasn't considered for the Enhanced program is because he was far too volitile in his temper to even risk having un-restrained.
Eventually he broke out in a situation that most likely involved lots of bloodied heads and broken walls and he made his way back to civilization. Upon his recovery from injuries sustained, he made his Union to see what all the fuss with this place is.
Looking For: Friend/Allies past and present, training buddies, military contacts, people he knew from the prisons, people to potentially abduct for good cause. He also has a not!adopted teenage daughter in canon, so if anyone wants to help with an analogue of that, it'd be totally sweet.

Character Name: Blaike Skye
Canon Name: Original
Brief History: A brilliant, solemn man from Sanctuary who lost just about everything dear to him years ago. He's an Enhanced Child of Knowledge Unbound who's kinda sorta in Team Evolution. He has a massive grudge against Gigas, although he tries not to make that known. Has a love of sketching and tends to see things as art. He also has a weakness for women.
AU Ideas: Blaike is a Normal/Psychic Enhanced (Resists Bug), Child of Knowledge Unbound. His signature spell is going to be one that changes the type of everyone in range to Normal for a short period of time. As an Enhanced, he's somewhat unstable, although he sports both mental and physical instability in the form of excruciating headaches, chronic nightmares/flashbacks, and debilitating chest pain.
He wields mostly special attacks that have some sort of side effects, as well as a fire typed chain sword. (Imagine a segmented blade that stretches out like a whip when swung.)
Looking For: Other Enhanced are definitely welcome, as I don't think we have any PC Team Evolution members? Anyone else with a massive grudgeboner for Gigas is also good. Other than that, people to annoy him or someone for him to end up protecting would be great!

Player Name: Nerdo
Contact Info:
Character Name: Saber, aka Arturia Pendragon
Canon Name: Fate/Stay Night
Brief History: It's a very long story, so bullet points:
-King Arthur was secretly a teenage girl the whole time (this is the least ridiculous part btw)
-While dying, she made a deal with the collective consciousness of humanity to basically become a summonable spirit for wizards so she could eventually obtain the Holy Grail (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) to get her wish of giving Britain a do-over on her reign (no one in this canon is very good at the Grandfather Paradox).
-She's summoned into a ritualized magical battle royale in the 1990's by Magical Nineties Batman. It sucks, a lot. She technically wins, but doesn't get the prize because it turns out this Holy Grail is literally possessed by Satan.
-She's summoned into a repeat of the same battle royale ten years later by Magical Nineties Batman's adopted son, whose entire personality is survivor's guilt symptoms. It sucks a bit less (except for Heaven's Feel which isn't really relevant), and she grows to learn that valuing herself and others is more important that perfection, and the value of both attainable and unattainable goals.
-Something about timeloops, idefk.
AU Ideas: Okay so most of that is pretty well thrown out for AU purposes, but I have a sort of parallel idea. Hold onto your hats, it's not any less dumb.
-An important human warrior died fighting against the gods to protect her people back in the War.
-Dying with regrets that she couldn't do more, this person's ghost became part of a Honedge which spent the intervening centuries sitting in a tomb doing Honedge things.
-Eventually for reasons I am intentionally leaving vague, this Honedge attained a human-esque personality and became a Shifter, with the ability to turn into a facsimile of its mortal life, wandered out of the tomb, and decided to call herself Saber.
Now we've got someone just as confused about their own humanity, mortality, and place in the world as the original Saber, albeit for different reasons. Rather than being a dead woman time-traveling and getting into fights, she's a dead woman who's also an undead Pokémon who can change which form she presents at will. I will admit I will probably do some angst with this one, sorry.
Looking For: Saber could really use a dedicated friend or two to focus her on a "be yourself" message, or at least be around while she's trying to figure out who her self is. In both her human previous life and her Pokémon existence, she also enjoys fighting almost instinctively, and could use both friendly rivals and antagonists (too bad there's no Spear Pokémon...)
Also, if I wanted to be horrible, I could say she was once "caught" and used rather roughly as an attack dog by a jerk from Sanctuary or Gigas. I don't know if we have anyone like that and wouldn't wish Kiritsugu Emiya on anybody as a character, but if this dovetails with anyone else's ideas, by all means, contact me.
Anything else?: Oh right, in keeping with BNW tradition, she's a magical girl:
This is Void's fault

Character Name: Aerith Gainsborough
Canon Name: Final Fantasy VII
Brief History: Flower girl last of her kind who hangs around with a chocobo-headed line face dude. Gets kebabed in the first ten hours of the game.
AU Ideas: Originally from Sanctuary, fled with her mother who ended up dying due to injuries. Was taken in by a Calderan woman and spent much of her life there. Ended up moving with her to Union after the first big migration over. She currently works at the habitat tower, although I may have her do some volunteer work with the medical center too, depending. Working toward opening her own flower shop, but that's expensive :<
(This is subject to change, since I'm still trying to decide how I want to work this. I won't be bringing her in until July at the earliest anyway.)
Looking For: I am literally open to anything. People for her to tease/mom at.

Contact Info: Skiiage on Plurk, Skype, and AIM!
Character Name: Tendou Souji
Canon Name: Kamen Rider Kabuto
Brief History: Some kid got his home (and most of Shibuya) exploded in a meteor strike, it turns out the meteor was filled with shapeshifting aliens. Now he turns into a karate bugman and kicks them in the face because fuck Worms. Also his grandmother is an endless font of wisdom and his ego is the size of the sun.
AU Ideas: I'm already in the game, so some of this stuff is set in stone. He's a guy from a nomadic tribe that got destroyed during the conflict between Caldera and Gigas, he suspects Gigas but it could be either or even neither. He relocates to Caldera, trains, then eventually heads to Union in search of his destiny.
He's probably somewhat famous in certain Calderan circles for showing up randomly, wowing everyone with his quick work and confident leadership, and then disappearing for a long time. Also for his incredible cooking.
I imagine he's going to be spending a while messing with people while I get his levels up, because what's a guy supposed to do without his signature move and a low level Honedge, but eventually he's going to get up to shenanigans.
His big personal plot will be the dismantling of whoever ended up exploding his home, and I think the best path for this will be making the culprit the Shocker analogue of BNW (a Gigas branch, obviously) and teaming up with the other Riders and like heroes to kick them in the face. That, and generally levelling up and exploring new frontiers so he can become the hottest shit ever.
Looking For: Probably an analogue for ZECT and Kagami.
ZECT in Kabuto is the main organisation behind the Rider System and the anti-Worm efforts. Tendou being the type of character he is, constantly shows them up and antagonises them. Most of them are well-meaning people, the uppermost echelons are predictably hilariously corrupt and turn out to be the final villains of the series. I'm not too sure how much of this can be replicated in BNW and I don't really want a 1 to 1 reproduction anyway, but something along the lines of a by the books cop being really mad at Tendou's weird-ass inscrutable vigilante plans?
I don't expect there to actually be a Kagami (in fact I already nicknamed Tendou's Honedge that whoops) but I like the dynamic too much to not throw it out there. Kagami's sort of the straight hero to Tendou's jerk-with-a-heart-of-gold-but-also-ego-problems and is in many ways the second protagonist of KR Kabuto. He's a constant presence in the series, alternatively awed by Tendou's over the top bullshit, learning from him, but also fighting him over his inscrutable, self-centred plans when he could probably do the same without antagonising everyone if he just opened up a bit. Tendou meanwhile is quite taken by the guy, as long as he feels like Kagami is pursuing his ambitions and sense of justice, but rejects him whenever he feels like Kagami is too caught up with the party line or what other people want.
Anything else?: Grandma definitely did not say this. also looking for Tendou icons

Character Name: James Sunderland
Canon Name: Silent Hill 2
Brief History: Once upon a time, James was a nice, normal clerk from some town in Maine. But everything changed when terminal illness attacked. Uh, not him. His wife Mary, actually. One day, long after her apparent death, James received a letter in her handwriting, saying that she was waiting for him in Silent Hill. So like any well-adjusted husband, he drove there to find out. This goes extremely well for everybody. Yes.
AU Ideas: So in this AU, Mary isn't dead yet! Hooray! Unfortunately, while they were visiting the Lake Shrine, Mary became very ill, and things have been... tense, ever since. Other than that, though, James is a fairly average clerk/record keeper in Union. He's probably Far From Ordinary, with Normal typing. Starter's probably a poliwag with the very original name of Polly. Look, he's not good at these things.
Oh, yeah, and you can count on him to jump into any suspicious/deadly holes.
Looking For: Well! Are there any other record keepers in Union he would know? Doctors to shout at?
Spooky fog covered towns to visit?Anything else?:

Character Name: Jack Frost
Canon Name: Rise of the Guardians
Brief History: So in like... colonial America, there was a teenager who saved his sister from drowning and died in her stead. And then the Man in the Moon resurrected him, gave him ice powers, named him Jack Frost and set him loose on the world! But unfortunately, Jack lost all memory of his previous life (including the knowledge that he even had a previous life), and was told absolutely fucking nothing about what was happening to him.
Since a spirit like him can't be seen unless he's believed in, and nobody believed in him at all, he spent the next 300 years being alone, bitter, and invisible. Other spirits don't seem to have ever had the time for him, and those that he did meet don't seem to have liked him. He passed the time making snow days, playing pranks, and having snowball fights with kids that walked right through him - and in doing this built a reputation for being a childish, flighty, careless winter spirit. He also had a lot of existential angst on account of the Moon not explaining anything! Fun for the whole family.
AU Ideas: First off, his type would definitely be Ice/Ghost, no question about it. Those are his things. As for backstory stuff, Jack's two most important character aspects are his long period of isolation, and his "centre" of Fun, so those are things that I want to either have in him from the start or develop over time.
Right now, I'm thinking of something along the lines of him being a Homunculus who retained his personality, but most of his memory was lost or fragmented; it's a shitty situation that kind of reflects where he was at the start of canon. The matter of his will is up in the air to him, because the mage that made him just up and vanished right afterwards, and left Jack behind with a lot of existential issues and a desperate desire to learn about his previous life and why the hell the guy even made him at all. (Thanks, Man in the Moon!)
He has poor control of his powers rather than any physical impediment, and on account of the Ice-typing, that can get kind of dangerous at times. Which means a fun life of self-enforced isolation so that he doesn't run the risk of accidentally hurting people! He's as nomadic as he can possibly be, figuring that more time spent in one place = more chance his control slips and somebody gets hurt. The travelling is also, you know, him trying to find the stupid mage that made him so he can get some answers.
There is still definitely a fun side to him, though, so whenever he stops by anywhere, he takes the time to start some snowball fights and ice-sledding for any kids. Aaaaand maybe "haunting" some houses. With all his wandering, characters could have run into him just about anywhere, and he's not great at keeping his head down either - his Pokemon companion is a Duskull, and more than once, they have pretended to "kidnap" bad children to freak a town out. (They definitely just took the kids so they could play games with them.) The fun is pretty much a must-have for him to keep himself together with all that existential angst on his shoulders.
Looking For: He loves kids, sooo he's definitely going to want to gather up everyone his age and younger so he can 1) look after them, and 2) pelt snowballs at them. They're the people he'll make friends with easiest. Pranksters and light-hearted types are always good! Jack's isolation would be self-enforced in BNW, so he'd benefit from having people to lift his spirits and help him to open up. And it might be nice for him to have some kind of responsible people to help stabilise him too, since his idea of dealing with things is not dealing with them at all.
On the "bad for Jack" side of things, it'd be interesting to see how he interacts with any antagonistic CR, considering how incredibly poorly he coped with Pitch needling him in the film. (And his uncomfortable sympathy feelings there, hahaha... COME TEMPT HIM WITH COMPANIONSHIP.) Also, Jack's fun can certainly edge on the mean-spirited side of things - freezing water pipes, ruining Easter, trying to break into North's workshop. So anyone with a darker sense of humour might be able to nudge Jack into some pretty awful shit in the name of his own personal enjoyment.
Anything else?: Jack is aaaaall movie-based until I finally find the time to read the books!! But since BNW is all AU anyway, I don't expect that will change anything because the only gaps that it would be supplementing are canon setting things.

Character Name: Rincewind
Canon Name: Discworld
Brief History:
Rincewind is a 35 year old wizzard (poor man can't spell), is tragically inept in learning and casting spells, is the unluckiest/luckiest man on all of the disc, and a coward. He can't learn spells because, during his time in the equivalent of wizard highschool, he took a dare to open the spellbook of the creator of the universe. One of eight powerful spells lodged itself into his memory and, according to him, scared away all the other spells that he'd otherwise memorize. He doesn't know what the spell does, but in times of great duress/near death experiences he'll begin to unconsciously cast it. The Lady (the Discworld's equivalent of Goddess of Luck), favors him and because he doesn't acknowledge/realize this, he continues to survive falling off the world, near-drownings, near-starvation, near-hanging, mobs, C'thulu equivalent monsters, the Dungeon Dimensions, Fate's wrath, and Death.
Rincewind is the coward with a thousand running backs. His hourglass that measures his life is so warped and twisted that Death keeps it on his desk as desk art.
AU Ideas:
Rincewind will be a "wizzard" (or "maggus"?? I'm still hashing this out in my head) from Sanctuary. He IS enlightened, but he'll be spell-less. He'll have lived his whole life during the Sanctuary lock-down from Gigas so anything he knows about the world around him will be from the books he's devoured. He's fluent in a number of languages and knows how to scream in even more. He'll have some geographical knowledge courtesy of the books he's read. I figure he'll have found Union by running for his life from Gigas.
I'm still braining over if I want to try to haggle to have him as the favored of a BNW equivalent of The Lady or just have one of his innate abilities be something of luck...if possible. On the other hand I've thought about just loading up his 3 innate abilities with redundant splash attacks and make him the human version of a magikarp...without the evolving.
He wont have The Luggage unless I can find the pokemon equivalent of "half suitcase, half homicidal maniac".
Looking For: ANYTHING AND ANYONE. People to get him into trouble. People to get him OUT of trouble. Trouble. Anyone who's heard of Rincewind's infamy of being the worst magus to ever magus.

Character Name: Lan Fan
Canon Name: FMA (manga)/FMA Brotherhood (anime)
Brief History: Retainer and bodyguard to Ling Yao, prince of Xing and 12th in line to the throne, Lan Fan is very much about her duty. She's a powerful
ninjawarrior even at the age of 15, and unflinchingly follows Ling through whatever hell, willing to make sacrifices someone her age has no actual business being okay with. But hey, she's been brought up to do all this! So clearly it must be fine!shealsokindof has a crush on her liege so don't badmouth him she'll know it from a mile off and punch you in the face.
AU Ideas: Lan Fan will be from Sanctuary, and either Homunculus or Enhanced. She was likely dropped in the Yao family's lap at a young age to be the young lord's future bodyguard. Her typing will be fighting/dark or if I go the God of War route Fighting/Dark/Steel, and I have not yet decided what kind of impediment I'll give her. Possibly an actual missing arm?
She won't see herself as human or of human worth, and will most definitely be as attached to Ling as she is in canon.
She doesn't exactly have a family, or remember one. There's just her mentor Fu, who she calls her grandfather, even though she doesn't know if they're actually related.
Looking For: People to realize her own attitude towards herself and try and point out to her that she is a person. I mean, I don't think you'll have that much luck, but please, please try.
Anything else?: This is Jami's fault. I can't stress this enough. This is entirely Jami's fault.

Character Name: Elizabeth Comstock
Canon Name: Bioshock Infinite
Brief History: A man saves a girl from the tower she has spent her entire life in, and the two of them attempt to escape from a floating city with the help of the girl's ability to open holes in space and time to alternate universes. Lots of fucked up things happen and the girl ends up angry, jaded, and omniscient. This makes her an expert on determinism.
AU Ideas: Okay, she is Little Miss "Needs Mod Approval For Everything", so keep in mind that this is aaaaall tentative.
BNW doesn't really have the capacity to be half as fucked up as Bioshock, so a lot of things are going to be toned down and less intense. Right now, I'm thinking that she could be the prisoner of Zachary Hale Comstock, an aristocrat from Gigas. Unbeknownst to her, he touts her as his daughter, an Enlightened "miracle child", and he intends to groom her into the service of Gigas as a powerful weapon. To this end, Comstock has experimented with ways to control her powers and make her obedient.
All Elizabeth knows is that she has spent seventeen years locked in a tower with no human contact, guarded and cared for by a Skarmory she named Songbird. And then one day, something goes wrong - due to a lack of Booker (unless someone wants to bring him, wink wink), she won't be sprung from her prison so directly, but there will be some kind of chaos that distracts Songbird and gives her a way out of the tower. She flees, and eventually comes across Union.
The main thing I'm not sure about is what I'm gonna do with her powers. In canon, due to being split between two universes, she has the power to open "tears" in space and time to other realities. This mostly has three applications; 1) she can peer into the past, usually to listen in on conversations; 2) she can "pull" objects through from one reality to her own; 3) she can open or step through entire tears into a different reality or location altogether. Elizabeth refers to it as a form of wish fulfilment, i.e. if she sees a tear, it is generally what she wants/needs at that moment, such as a view of the Eiffel Tower she opens when she's locked up.
OBVIOUSLY SHE WON'T BE THAT OVERPOWERED..... I'm just thinking about whether I want to try and translate her powers into BNW as a toned down version, or if I should just ditch that aspect altogether and make her a powerful but otherwise ordinary Psychic-type Enlightened. If I kept the tears, it would be very reduced; maybe she can pull through objects (larger/more complex ones as she evolves) and otherwise can pretty much only open minor "windows", possibly as a plot mechanic? For example, an old ruin might have a tear that shows a conversation from the past. If anybody has suggestions I will love you forever.
Looking For: Firstly, she'd probably need someone to stumble across her out in the wilds, and bring her back to Union! So, like. I'd take volunteers for that. She will also be totally clueless and naive, and if she doesn't have Booker to look after her, someone else should... probably take up that role...
I'd probably want to try and recreate the character development she goes through in canon, although I'd like to see how it might be altered somewhat by BNW's setting - she might not become as jaded as in Bioshock due to less intense torture and rampant murder.
But basically, over the course of canon, she becomes less naive, more world-wise, pragmatic, and adamant about her freedom. Sooo I guess, exposure to any player plots that might lead her in this direction is something I'd be looking for, and how close she comes to canon "I will murder my father in cold blood" Elizabeth will depend on what happens in BNW. I'd love to have her second evolution line up with her getting recaptured by Comstock and rescued but that would be difficult since obviously y'all can't just go... strolling into Gigas.
Anything else?: Somebody should choose which city is her favourite for me because we don't have Kalos' Pokemon Paris, quick!!

Character Name: Link
Canon Name: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask
Brief History: So there's this 10yo kid who lives in a forest raised by other kids, who are actually forest spirits of some sort. All of them have a fairy companion, except for him. He gets picked on for it by the leader of the kids but he's friends with everybody else. And then one day, the local dad tree who looks after the entire forest calls Link over and asks him to destroy the curse inside him. In the process, Link finally gets a fairy of his own! Yay! Everything is great!
... Except that once the curse is destroyed, treedad tells Link to Go Forth To Save The World, Whoo Destiny, and promptly dies. Link does, in fact, Go Forth To Save The World, meets a princess, and gets stuck in a space outside of time for seven years. When he wakes up, the world has gone to shit and he is (physically) Suddenly An Adult. More time travel shenanigans happens, Link discovers he isn't a forest spirit after all, and does, in fact, Save The World.
At the end of it all, he gets sent back to his childhood, except he has been ~forever changed~ and doesn't Belong anywhere. He isn't a forest spirit like he thought, and he isn't exactly a kid like he looks like he is any more, and no one remembers or knows about the things he did to Save The World. Also, his fairy buddy leaves. So, he decides to go looking for her, and gets sucked into another Adventure With Time Travel and also, lots of masks and the moon threatening to fall and destroy the world. Far, far in his future, after Link becomes an adult again and a knight, he eventually dies and stays in the forest as a heroic spirit waiting for the next hero to pass on his skills on to.
Bonus points: Link and the princess happened to shatter the timeline of their world into itty bitty pieces. Also, they're reincarnations of a goddess and her chosen hero, stuck in a never-ending reincarnation loop in order to keep the world from being destroyed by various incarnations of an evil demon dude. But only sort of, because two Links have existed at the same time. So that's fun.
AU Ideas: Obviously, a lot of that gets to go right out the window.
- Link is going to be a ten-year-old from the Citadel, because, come on, giant tree. This is also useful to me because I'd like to keep Link's education level pretty simple, and Union is pretty heavy on the schooling. I'm thinking he'll also be a Kindred Spirit. Very likely Fairy type.
- I'd like to keep him an orphan? Having no real parents to speak of and thus being forced to be independent at a young age would be great for his development. That said, I could also very easily saddle him with a Heroic Uncle who went off and died fairly recently as a callback to Link to the Past. Maybe his uncle died when dealing with the lavabeast?
- The reason why Link would be striking out would be because of his bonding with his first Pokemon. I'm thinking of this being a Honedge, as a symbol of the fact that it's pretty common theming for Link to be given a sword and his adventure starting as a result.
- I have no ideas about his potential evolutions. Maybe time-related shenanigans? Music? Masks?? Hero's Shade style stuff??? I don't know. I have no idea.
- If possible, I'd love to keep the reincarnation aspect. I saw that the Sailor Scouts have something like that going, so maybe it's in the realm of possibility?? I don't have any ideas about the history of it beyond that, and I can definitely live without it, but it'd be cool to incorporate that aspect.
Looking For: I... well. Nothing in particular?? Absolutely everything? My thoughts on this are basically that this is Link striking out for adventure For The First Time so that all of his questing will be in-game experiences, for maximum character development and CR flexibilities. So that pretty well means I'm open to... anything and everything. I'm also open to someone taking Link on and being his guardian? That's a very real and pretty cool option, whether it's pre-planned or it just kind of Happens naturally out of CR.

Character Name: Baek Mari
Canon Name: Orange Marmalade (Webtoon version)
Brief History: A teenage vampire girl desperately tries to be left alone so she can graduate in peace and keep her vampirism a secret while a guy she sorta accidentally gave a hickie to insists on following her around and two classmates keep pestering her to join their band.
Oh and some random mean girl keeps trying to make her life hell or something.
AU Ideas: Mari is from a family that could make a good claim of being able to trace their lines to the Savior and get all the perks and influence that entails, but... Didn't. They simply never cared, her parents especially so. Whatever wealth her family had is long gone, and they're now no richer than the average Union citizen.
Mari herself is an 18 year old Bug/Grass typed Egg Master who before deciding to become trainer was simply an ordinary students that happened to play at a coffee shop on the weekends or occasionally on the streets near her house.
Looking For: Mostly, I'm looking for pre-established CR. Could be family such as a cousin, or just a former classmate, snobby noble that knows her family and turns up their nose at their waste of noble lineage, or simply someone that has heard her play before and has made her acquaintance.
Anything else?: Watch as the mighty vampire fends off a human attacker.

Character Name: Sanger Zonvolt
Canon Name: Super Robot Wars
Brief History: First, a 6 minute clip that says everything that needs to be said.
In a world filled to the brim with badass mecha pilots, Sanger's arguably the most badass. The self-styled "Sword That Smites Evil," he's a German samurai with a giant sword who has the greatest one-liners and is awesome enough to make kanji appear on screen through sheer force of awesome.
In the Original Generations timeline, Sanger is one of the Aggressors, a team of first-generation mecha pilots who helped invent mecha combat and still have reputations as some of the best at it. By the time of the first game, he starts as the commander of the ATX Team, (the same one Kyosuke and Excellen are on,) though that's short-lived as he's captured by enemy forces while securing his men a retreat route.
He next shows up as part of the Divine Crusaders, a terrorist organisation which declared a coup on the Earth Federation, and constantly antagonises our heroes. He's eventually defeated along with the rest of the DC, and disappears again.
So it turns out that the DC's master plan was to force the EF to band together and upgrade their mecha army in preparation for an incoming alien attack, and Sanger was convinced by their cause and dedication. After doing some work behind the scenes, he shows up again in time for the final push against the alien forces and helps defeat them, but disappears again afterwards because he's now a wanted criminal for treason.
These days he's flying around Earth and space being outlaws with a few buddies. He's on good terms with the rest of the heroes, and shows up to bail out his old crew and make awesome entrances all the time, but he can't join the army again for obvious reasons.
Because it'd make the games too easy if he were there from the start.AU Ideas: So Thorin's kind of taken his place as the founder of the ATX Team, and that's fine. My current idea is that he used to be Kyosuke's commanding officer and an old comrade of Thorin's, who is relatively famous amongst military circles for being the guy who's an amazing swordsman and honourable warrior. At some point in the past he would have been thought KIA after a failed mission and just pop off the radar, and he'd show up suddenly just after I successfully app him to antagonise the ATX Team with new Enlightened powers and Pokemon.
There's no real DC equivalent, so he probably won't be a straight up enemy, but still someone with his own plans and on his own journey. (Mostly to master his own Enlightened abilities first before doing anything else.)
Looking For: Mostly old comrades and whatnot. He'd be reasonably famous in the Calderan military, though he'd probably have disappeared by the time Union showed up on the scene. Possibly rivals in swording.
Anything else?: Real men ride each other.
no subject
In other words: hell yes. I like this. Honestly, him and Thorin were probably something of a team at this rate, what with the swords and honor and both being reasonably high ranking officers. Not, I don't think, a good candidate for rivals. So just army buddies would work I believe? Sanger might've also known Thorin's younger brother, who did end up KIA some years ago.

Character Name: Irisviel von Einzbern.
Canon Name: Fate/Zero.
Brief History: A homunculus created to be the vessel of the Holy Grail, an omnipotent wish granting device granted to the victor of the Holy Grail War. She begins with very little in the way of personality, but the man who becomes her husband helps her gain self-worth and learn to be human. Still, she willingly accepts her fate so that Kiritsugu's ideal world will become reality, and so their daughter will not have to suffer the same destiny as her mother.
AU Ideas: I'm looking at making Iri an ice-type (secondary type pending) Homunculus with Egg Mastery. The twist is that she'll be newly created, meaning she'll start off with pre-husband personality and grow according to this setting!
Looking For: I'd love to hear from castmates, any players with characters from Sanctuary, or anyone else who wants CR with Irisviel!
Anything else?:
no subject
I am beginning to slightly regret not going the same route as Gil and our pending Broskander and making this girl a screwed up experiment, but nonetheless, she's got a knack for helping out precious cinnamon rolls from Sanctuary already. If Iri needs a sword or a friend who understands human emotions about as much as she does, Saber's willing to be either.
