AU Planning Meme (June + July)

AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Player Name: Ski
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] Skiiage

Character Name: Sanger Zonvolt
Canon Name: Super Robot Wars
Brief History: First, a 6 minute clip that says everything that needs to be said.
In a world filled to the brim with badass mecha pilots, Sanger's arguably the most badass. The self-styled "Sword That Smites Evil," he's a German samurai with a giant sword who has the greatest one-liners and is awesome enough to make kanji appear on screen through sheer force of awesome.
In the Original Generations timeline, Sanger is one of the Aggressors, a team of first-generation mecha pilots who helped invent mecha combat and still have reputations as some of the best at it. By the time of the first game, he starts as the commander of the ATX Team, (the same one Kyosuke and Excellen are on,) though that's short-lived as he's captured by enemy forces while securing his men a retreat route.
He next shows up as part of the Divine Crusaders, a terrorist organisation which declared a coup on the Earth Federation, and constantly antagonises our heroes. He's eventually defeated along with the rest of the DC, and disappears again.
So it turns out that the DC's master plan was to force the EF to band together and upgrade their mecha army in preparation for an incoming alien attack, and Sanger was convinced by their cause and dedication. After doing some work behind the scenes, he shows up again in time for the final push against the alien forces and helps defeat them, but disappears again afterwards because he's now a wanted criminal for treason.
These days he's flying around Earth and space being outlaws with a few buddies. He's on good terms with the rest of the heroes, and shows up to bail out his old crew and make awesome entrances all the time, but he can't join the army again for obvious reasons. Because it'd make the games too easy if he were there from the start.

AU Ideas: So Thorin's kind of taken his place as the founder of the ATX Team, and that's fine. My current idea is that he used to be Kyosuke's commanding officer and an old comrade of Thorin's, who is relatively famous amongst military circles for being the guy who's an amazing swordsman and honourable warrior. At some point in the past he would have been thought KIA after a failed mission and just pop off the radar, and he'd show up suddenly just after I successfully app him to antagonise the ATX Team with new Enlightened powers and Pokemon.

There's no real DC equivalent, so he probably won't be a straight up enemy, but still someone with his own plans and on his own journey. (Mostly to master his own Enlightened abilities first before doing anything else.)

Looking For: Mostly old comrades and whatnot. He'd be reasonably famous in the Calderan military, though he'd probably have disappeared by the time Union showed up on the scene. Possibly rivals in swording.

Anything else?: Real men ride each other.

WHAT IS IT WITH SO MANY PEOPLE HE KNEW WHO WENT MIA/KIA WHO JUST SHOW BACK UP

In other words: hell yes. I like this. Honestly, him and Thorin were probably something of a team at this rate, what with the swords and honor and both being reasonably high ranking officers. Not, I don't think, a good candidate for rivals. So just army buddies would work I believe? Sanger might've also known Thorin's younger brother, who did end up KIA some years ago.
smitesevil: (Tch!)

I'M SORRY IT'S ACTUALLY PART OF SANGER'S CANON STORYLINE

It's been ages since I read the Hobbit (of course I've read the Hobbit) and I haven't watched the films beyond the first, but yes, this is good. I can definitely agree with all of this.

Unfortunately Thorin's not tall enough to ride.

APOLOGY ACCEPTED maybe I guess

Well, I will recommend the movies forever (even though the third one is going to just hurt a lot) but his AU is different from his canon attitude in a few ways anyway.

And you know, he's actually pretty tall here, but maybe not THAT tall.
smitesevil: (wat)

I'll try to find time for it! They're so long though...

So I guess what I'm saying is I need a Rapidash Shifter. Shiny Rapidash.
darer: (enter stage left)

They are... it's kind of unfortunate.

Looks that way! Or just... an actual Rapidash. Or if it's any pokémon that can serve as a mount and doesn't have to be a horse, a Gogoat. Or an Arcanine.
smitesevil: (One with the strength of a thousand!)

An Arcanine mount sounds ridiculous and amazing in all the best ways, holy shit.
