AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Canon Name: FMA (manga)/FMA Brotherhood (anime)
Brief History: Retainer and bodyguard to Ling Yao, prince of Xing and 12th in line to the throne, Lan Fan is very much about her duty. She's a powerful ninjawarrior even at the age of 15, and unflinchingly follows Ling through whatever hell, willing to make sacrifices someone her age has no actual business being okay with. But hey, she's been brought up to do all this! So clearly it must be fine!
shealsokindof has a crush on her liege so don't badmouth him she'll know it from a mile off and punch you in the face.

AU Ideas: Lan Fan will be from Sanctuary, and either Homunculus or Enhanced. She was likely dropped in the Yao family's lap at a young age to be the young lord's future bodyguard. Her typing will be fighting/dark or if I go the God of War route Fighting/Dark/Steel, and I have not yet decided what kind of impediment I'll give her. Possibly an actual missing arm?
She won't see herself as human or of human worth, and will most definitely be as attached to Ling as she is in canon.
She doesn't exactly have a family, or remember one. There's just her mentor Fu, who she calls her grandfather, even though she doesn't know if they're actually related.
Looking For: People to realize her own attitude towards herself and try and point out to her that she is a person. I mean, I don't think you'll have that much luck, but please, please try.

Anything else?: This is Jami's fault. I can't stress this enough. This is entirely Jami's fault.

oh my god, this could go one of two ways: either Jack tries to work with Lan Fan on improving her self-esteem and convincing her that she's still human, and in the process, starts to believe it himself

or Lan Fan's attitude towards herself unearths all of Jack's repressed issues about being a Homunculi and he ends up questioning his worth and humanity just as much as her

DEFINITELY tbh he would normally just give up on someone who clearly wasn't going to have fun, or at least someone serious who had hilarious reactions, BUT..... she gets instant attachment bc homu kids so he will make it his solemn duty to teach her about fun
