AU Planning Meme (June + July)

AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Oh right there's this thing I should write things down publicly before apping

Player Name: Nerdo
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] Nerdorama

Character Name: Saber, aka Arturia Pendragon
Canon Name: Fate/Stay Night
Brief History: It's a very long story, so bullet points:

-King Arthur was secretly a teenage girl the whole time (this is the least ridiculous part btw)
-While dying, she made a deal with the collective consciousness of humanity to basically become a summonable spirit for wizards so she could eventually obtain the Holy Grail (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) to get her wish of giving Britain a do-over on her reign (no one in this canon is very good at the Grandfather Paradox).
-She's summoned into a ritualized magical battle royale in the 1990's by Magical Nineties Batman. It sucks, a lot. She technically wins, but doesn't get the prize because it turns out this Holy Grail is literally possessed by Satan.
-She's summoned into a repeat of the same battle royale ten years later by Magical Nineties Batman's adopted son, whose entire personality is survivor's guilt symptoms. It sucks a bit less (except for Heaven's Feel which isn't really relevant), and she grows to learn that valuing herself and others is more important that perfection, and the value of both attainable and unattainable goals.
-Something about timeloops, idefk.

AU Ideas: Okay so most of that is pretty well thrown out for AU purposes, but I have a sort of parallel idea. Hold onto your hats, it's not any less dumb.

-An important human warrior died fighting against the gods to protect her people back in the War.
-Dying with regrets that she couldn't do more, this person's ghost became part of a Honedge which spent the intervening centuries sitting in a tomb doing Honedge things.
-Eventually for reasons I am intentionally leaving vague, this Honedge attained a human-esque personality and became a Shifter, with the ability to turn into a facsimile of its mortal life, wandered out of the tomb, and decided to call herself Saber.

Now we've got someone just as confused about their own humanity, mortality, and place in the world as the original Saber, albeit for different reasons. Rather than being a dead woman time-traveling and getting into fights, she's a dead woman who's also an undead Pokémon who can change which form she presents at will. I will admit I will probably do some angst with this one, sorry.

Looking For: Saber could really use a dedicated friend or two to focus her on a "be yourself" message, or at least be around while she's trying to figure out who her self is. In both her human previous life and her Pokémon existence, she also enjoys fighting almost instinctively, and could use both friendly rivals and antagonists (too bad there's no Spear Pokémon...)

Also, if I wanted to be horrible, I could say she was once "caught" and used rather roughly as an attack dog by a jerk from Sanctuary or Gigas. I don't know if we have anyone like that and wouldn't wish Kiritsugu Emiya on anybody as a character, but if this dovetails with anyone else's ideas, by all means, contact me.

Anything else?: Oh right, in keeping with BNW tradition, she's a magical girl:
