Player Name: Eric
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] overbringer or EricOverbringer on AIM

Character Name: Zarvora Cybeline
Canon Name: The Greatwinter Trilogy
Brief History: Gun toting librarian from the distant future who built a computer out of slave labor because ancient orbital kill sats were melting anything with an EM signature.

AU Ideas: A librarian in Union. She's known for being fascinated in ancient technology, and for having been tried for murder that one time when a man died as a result of injuries sustained during a duel. She was found not guilty, but she still has a bit of a reputation.
Interests:
- Ancient Tech
- Smart people
- Duels
- Getting really really angry

Looking For: People to have battles of wits with. People who she can trust. People she CAN'T trust. People who are critical of the methods she uses to try and achieve her vision. People who share her vision of rebuilding technological civilization. Anything really.

Jade frequents the library and while he doesn't have a specific interest in ancient tech (he's more of a pokemon researcher type of person) he's still interested in knowledge of all types. He's definitely fond of a good debate so perhaps there's opportunities for CR there?

He's kind of an infuriating asshole though so he'll probably straddle the line between can trust/can't trust
highliber: (A splendid specimen)

The library has a lot of info on Pokemon, for obvious reasons.

Zarvora is senior management, so he wouldn't run into her very often AT the library. But maybe there's a coffee house nearby that they both frequent. Were this the case, there would be plenty of opportunities for them to at least be acquaintances.

Coffeehouse works! And so do acquaintances, it's what he's most used to. If he knows of her interest in tech, he'll probably have brought her a trinket or two to check out at some point.

She's more interested in books detailing how they work, but trinkets will undoubtedly vanish into her office never to be seen again.

GLaDOS appreciates three of those interests, except that she likes every living thing better when it's dead.

So I wouldn't recommend trusting her.

But I can see this being extremely interesting either way.
highliber: (That's concerning)

[personal profile] highliber 2014-01-12 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
But clearly AIs from the forgotten era are benevolent and trustworthy allies of humanity.

That will be her initial mindset at least. GLaDOS will disabuse her of this notion in rather short order.

Or string her along for a while, whatever she finds more amusing.

Well, I mean. Everything she did, she did for ~science~, right?

And the benefit of everyone still alive, of course.

highliber: (Keep talking I'm listening)

[personal profile] highliber 2014-01-13 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
But look at you still talking while there's science to do?

Maybe we can direct GLaDOS's energy and homicidal tendencies into a more useful direction.

Banzu isn't so much interested in rebuilding technological civilization as he is in playing around with technology, but a technological civilization would certainly make that easier. He's more of the "understand something by tearing it apart and putting it back together" type than the "understand something by reading everything about it" type, but he's taught himself a lot by reading (the most frustrating student: "Why didn't you finish your history homework?" "I was teaching myself high-level algebra." "Oh really? Have some algebra problems." Next week: "Why haven't you finished those algebra problems?" "I was teaching myself how to make alloys."). Her computer project wouldn't be as hands-on as he'd prefer, but he'd certainly be interested if he found out and willing to work with her on it. He'd also see Pokéball technology the same way as her if he got access to it; strip out the mind-control part and build a suitcase that can hold 20 Pokémon in the field out of range of the transmitter.
