AU PLANNING MEME (DECEMBER + JANUARY)

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Character Name: Ryuko Matoi
Canon Name: Kill la Kill
Brief History: One day, Ryuko came home to find her dad on the floor with a giant scissor stuck through his gut. This pissed her off right quick and she decided to take the giant scissor and hunt down the sumbitch who offed her dad. Along the way, she ended up transferring to a new school to kick the shit out of everyone until she found her dad's killer. She also met a talking uniform named Senketsu that gave her super powers. She also found out that clothes are from outer space. And that she's a hybrid between human and clothing.

Kill la Kill is weird, man.

AU Ideas: So the idea I'm generally thinking for for Ryuko here is that she's an orphaned kid found and raised in Caldera. Pretty quick-tempered, even by Calderan standards, she probably pretty quickly grew a reputation as a delinquent and troublemaker not at all helped by the reveal that she was abandoned as an infant and, apparently, left to die by her real parents.

The twist is that she was actually born in Sanctuary, for the sole purpose of an experiment to create Enhanced Enlightened. When it appeared the infant Ryuko had perished during the experiments she was chucked on down the garbage chute but somehow managed to survive and was picked up and brought to safety, completely unaware of her real origins.

I'm still working on details but I'm figuring this probably came out somewhere along the line and she may have even gotten a tip and traveled to Union in pursuit. Other ideas would be that she was actually snuck out of Sanctuary by one or both of her parents at the cost of their lives at the hands of Gigas and this discovery leads her to declare war on Gigas itself. Because she makes great decisions.

Looking For: I'm open to all things. Rivals, naturally are immensely welcome for ridiculous angry shoutfights. Friends! Both the type to rush out and get into trouble right alongside her and to maybe even out her craziness a little. Friends and rivals need not even be mutually exclusive, frenemies are rad. I'm also open to any old friends from Caldera or even anybody who was a part of her adopted family back home. I dunno, if you've got an idea, fire away and I'll be stoked to talk about it.

Anything else?: She's an Enhanced God of War with Fighting/Dragon/Steel typing and her weakness to Fighting types and a hair trigger temper and possibly some kind of terrifying instability in her powers somewhere down the line. I dunno, I'm working on it.

If Ryuko was a troublemaker, then she likely at least ran into Excellen once or twice. She's definitely not going to let her break the law or anything like that, but I imagine that she looked out for the younger girl. She also has a terrible sense of humor (see: perverted), so have fun with that.

Yeah, Ryuko's never done any... major crime but lousy teen delinquent stuff? Totally. If Excellen's ever caught somebody in the act vandalizing shit or shoplifting a little or streetfighting it's very possible it was Ryuko. I'd love the idea of somebody trying to play big sister to her, even if Ryuko'll hate it.

Just makes it funnier when she kicks and yells through those boob hugs.

Behavior like that will just egg her on. She may seem like a terrible person, but she does care. She'd probably send her off with a meal or something like that from time to time.

When she can manage it anyway. Ryuko isn't and never was anything but terribly resistant to being looked after by anyone but maybe she got hungry a couple times.

Excellen'll just have to keep at it. The fact that she hasn't uppercutted her in response to being boobsquished is a good sign.

Once Excellen sees that she's in Union, she'll probably offer her somewhere to stay until she manages to get somewhere herself.

Hah-- pity, he's something of a big brother-style troll. While he's got nothing against anyone, he really likes to push buttons. And, in the AU he's from Citadel.

If he's looking for somebody to troll, Ryuko definitely fits the bill. She's... pretty trollable.

How does he feel about getting his ass kicked by a girl though?

At least Kon would be able to take some joy in knowing that he was beaten up by a girl who is half alien clothing instead of a girl who is possessed by a dog god?

Besides, with that ability set I fully expect a beat down, though Dark/Ghost would prove to be an annoying opponent even for Ryuko's typing-- even with a bum arm.

Dark/Ghost would be a tricky fight for her with that Ghost-type negating her Fighting moves but she does have those Dragon-moves and a habit of coming up with wacky strategies on the fly. It'd definitely be a pain for her though and she'd probably get plenty frustrated.

Rose grew up in Caldera until she didn't, because things went south with her adopted dad, when their military unit didn't protect a Calderan VIP. Thus, they became a mixture of merchants and secret mercenaries/assassins/et cetera. So she could have known Ryuko, because of orphans in Caldera!

With things to discover later. They might be friends? Rose is pretty go get 'em and intuitive, if not quite as shouty as Ryuko is. (But who is?)

But, yeah, they could be friends. Ryuko might have her beat in shoutiness but Ryuko'll probably appreciate Rose's straightforwardness enough that they could get along. I'm still working on if Ryuko was actually adopted by a Calderan family or ended up in an orphanage but I imagine a couple orphaned kids could have crossed paths at some point.

Ooooh sounds good to me! Rose is definitely straightforward. Perhaps to a fault sometimes. They could have lived nearby and played as kids or something?

(Or Rose lived near where Ryuko stayed, if she was on the streets. Either/or.)

Ryuko wasn't a street kid. I'm leaning toward growing up in an orphanage but they could easily have been old childhood friends before Rose was adopted. Maybe running into each other for the first time in so many years in the game?

Slides in another Calderan! Hayato was also a shitty street urchin until he got his act together and became photojournalist. They're probably a few years apart but its definitely possible they've met!

He was also kidnapped by Gigas off the battlefield and Enhanced not too long ago so theres that, too! I'm up for any shenanigans.

Ryuko's seventeen like in canon and she won't have grown up on the streets but she's run on them enough that it's certainly possible they've run into each other.

Ryuko's likely to have a bone to pick with Gigas at some point to begin with. If she finds out they messed with somebody she knows that'll only get worse.

Excellent. Hayato turned 23 recently in game so they're 5-6 years apart. It's def possible they've met.

And good lord I'm trying to imagine Ryuko at a support group. Sitting there, sullen and grouchy while she eats an entire plate of cookies then gets up and leaves when they're gone because she was only there for the snacks.

Well, if you're looking for somebody to grab Geo and literally drag him out into the sunshine she's your girl! It might be a little tough since she's all in her own spiky, prickly shell of her own but there's a big, squishy heart under there so it's definitely possible.
