Hello, I am Farli, and I've been meaning to app here at Brave New World for some time. I'd actually intended to send one in for this character last year, but due to RL and time restraints, thaaaat got rather indefinitely delayed. Until now.

Character Name: Sophia Nate
Canon Name: Super Robot Wars
Brief History: Scientist in distress who just wants to take an extended nap in a huge underground secret bunker and wake up in a peaceful future. But sudden but inevitable betrayals by (former) colleagues who just can't say no to POWER, alien invasions, and villains from alternate universes keep interrupting such good intentions. Fortunately, there are heroes around to save the day (including Swords That Smite Evil) - though she's still left to clean up the mess by herself afterwards. Sigh.

AU Ideas:
Since elements of Gigas make a good parallel for the Divine Crusaders, the faction Sophia was nominally a member of in the Super Robot Wars series, I've opted for Sophia being a servitor in their service, and has been for most of her life.

Born in Sanctuary during the Gigas occupation, Sophia was conscripted at 6 years old from one of the older mage families who'd fallen on hard times due to the conflict. Given a new surname (Nate), she was taken far away to raised in service, and has been involved in the development and maintanence of defensive technology for as long as she can remember. Working under one of the more prominant leaders of one of Gigas' political factions, due to her quality of work she gained something of a high position in spite of being a "tool" of her adoptive nation.

However, when ownership of her servitor group changed hands, she began to uncover evidence that parts of her work were being used for weapons development. Due to this, she was betrayed by one of her more conniving colleagues in order to take both her position and credit for her creations, as she would not permit projects where said work might be used to cause harm. Believed to have been killed in a workplace 'accident', some time later she would be revived many many miles away -- at the Forest Shrine near Union.

She'll have no memory of who she used to be or where she was from, but still possesses a natural talent with technology. Said memories will begin to return over time, depending on levels gained and player-plots, as well as encounters out in the world.

Looking For: Science! CREATING THINGS. New Friends to help with memory recovery! People who do not mind helping an adult woman work to start a new life when she has few to no memories of her past one, as well as teach her how to control her Enlightened abilities. May look into becoming a Seeker, since they're actively researching The Past. Alternatively, people who may distrust her, especially as memories slowly come to light - is she really an amnesiac or actually a spy/mole from Gigas?

Anything else?:

Sophia is a grass/steel type, who will have awakened as an Enlightened: a Child of Unbound Knowledge with Engineering secondary skill. Given Sanctuary's dislike for technology and Gigas' love of it, this seemed a fitting combo. :D

Sophia is accompanied by a overprotective Honedge called Ymir, though she has no idea where she met him (and is unaware that he shared the name of a failed Enhanced project that was attempted at the facilities she served at.)

Turned into a borg queen in the future veryvery bad end timeline of Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden, complete with a very scary giant robot. This may or may not provide inspiration for several of her future powers - in spite of her being very much a pacifist by nature.

Canon Name: MegaMan Star Force
Brief History: Sad shut-in boy with a father that went missing IN SPACE meets a weird alien. Shenanigans, heroics, and learning about The Power of Friendship ensue.

AU Ideas: His AU is gonna mostly mirror canon with a missing father and Geo becoming a shut-in for some time after that! He's Union-native so while he's kind of vaguely aware of the things that have been going on, he's... not really been inclined to actually care and doesn't really know any details or anything.
Looking For: People to punch holes through Geo's shell and forcefully pull him out, people who will show him that there is indeed life outside his house and he's only gonna see it if he leaves... CR of that nature mostly, but anyone who will put up with him trying to push people away and friendship at him despite that will also be welcomed!!

Anything else?: He's going to be a Psychic/Fighting type Enlightened, probably an Engineer! He'll be accompanied by an Espurr that may or may not have been the family pet.

Character Name: Kon Shinonome
Canon Name: Amatsuki
Brief History: Hacker from Modern Japan somehow ends up long term in a virtual simulation of Edo-era Japan. He can see and interact with the youkai of the virtual world, and makes a bunch of strange friends while he pulls strings both within and outside of the simulation. Due to a variety of circumstances surrounding the youkai, he can't use his right arm while he's in the simulated world. Incidentally, that's also the same hand he uses to interface with the computer system...

He also can and will chew the scenery-- literally. It's a thing. Expect him to be doing everything from smoking to sucking on lollipops to hanging onto that plastic spoon he used to eat his ice cream.

AU Ideas: The general idea for the AU so far is that Kon is going to be a Normal/Ghost type Engineer, and that he's travelling to Union from Citadel after being stranded among the tribes there for some time while he recovered from injuries he recieved when he was separated from the party he was travelling with. Incidentally, he awakened to his Enlightened abilities at that time. He likes to cook, likes history, and is pretty darn handy and adaptable.

He's coming to Union to get some help with managing his Ghost typing, since he never expected to awaken to any powers-- and he certainly never expected to be a Ghost-type!

Looking For: People who knew him in Citadel, people to help him manage his 'Ghost problem', people he can pick fights with, people that he can harrass until next tuesday about anything and everything that seems relevant at the time.

Brief History: Rose is the leader of a group called the Sparrowfeathers and the Scattered Bones. By day, she's the leader of the merchant group called the Sparrowfeathers; by night, she's the leader of an assassin's guild called the Scattered Bones. Somehow, she joins an RPG party!

AU Ideas: Rose is the leader of a small band of merchants called the Spearowfeathers (heh heh). They're made up of former Steel Battalion members. Conveniently, they're also a group of mercenaries specializing in information gathering, reconnaissance, and the occasional bit of assassination. They mostly work for Caldera, still. Recently, Rose decided to move them to operate out of Union.

More seriously: people who knew Rose back when the Spearowfeathers/Scattered Bones operated as a legit Steel Battalion unit would be fun. So would people who have bought stuff from the Spearowfeathers!

Canon Name: Yuki Yuna Is A Hero
Brief History: Basically, Yuna's the goody 'wants to help everyone' type, that doesn't give up. The Hero Club, which she belongs to does pretty ordinary things to help other people, but they're actually soooort of like magical girls that fight off the evil forces that want to destroy their world.

AU Ideas: First off, Yuna is going to have an alternate forme similar to how Aegislash works. When she uses a Punch attack, she takes on her 'Hero' form, which is Fairy/Fighting. Otherwise, she's normally Fairy/Normal.

I haven't decided whether Kindred Soul or Egg Mastery would be more fitting yet.

She'll definitely be from Union, normally playing the part of the good if not airheaded student. It wasn't until recently that she discovered her Enlightened powers and joined a small group of others who have alternate formes like herself. I'm still working on coming up with more.

Canon Name: Odin Sphere
Brief History: A Valkyre princess who's thematically Sleeping Beauty/Brunnhilde in the fairytale mashup retelling of Wagner's ring cycle, aka the Vanillaware game know as Odin Sphere! Gwendolyn is the 2nd daughter of Demon Lord Odin, King of Ragnanival. She becomes his heir when her sister is killed by the Black Knight Oswald, taking up her weapon the Psypher Spear. She has self confidence issues, daddy didn't love her enough, and she eventually ends up married to the man who killed her sister! Fun times all round, honest.

Oh and there's plot dominos leading to Ragnarok to deal with too.

AU Ideas:
Gwendolyn is a Citadel valkyrie of the Ragnanival tribe. Second to Griselda, the tribe's heir, Gwendolyn is sent to Union in a warrior exchange program (with the Swords of the Saviour? or rangers) in order to prove herself in the eyes of the clan and the Matriarch of Citadel. She wants very much to earn the approval of her clan/father/sister, and show herself to be a capable Valkyrie. She'd be a Child of the Howling Gale, aware of her Enlightened status since a young age and raised accordingly, and is most certainly a Normal/Flying type! Unsure as yet on if she'll get a different Type with future evolutions at this time.

I still need to look up Citadel details re: contact with other cities prior to Union links, as in canon her father Odin is a Big Deal, so...rare male warrior in a heavily matriarchal society? Or maybe he was originally from another city, perhaps Caldera? :|a

Looking For: Friends, rivals and members of the Ragnanival tribe from Citadel! People willing to spar with her. Unit assignment in Union?

Character Name: Sonia Strumm
Canon Name: MegaMan Star Force
Brief History: A popular idol with a dead mom, an asshole manager, and resultant issues that lead to her fusing with an evil alien. The hero beats some sense into her, the alien decides to stop being evil, and they fight for GREAT JUSTICE (but to limited effect because she's not the games' main character.)

AU Ideas: Her story is pretty much the same as canon... sans aliens. A native of Union, she discovered an incredible natural talent for music and became a singer to provide for her sickly single mother. Unfortunately, not too long after she made it big her mom's condition worsened and she passed away, leaving Sonia in the care of a manager who only cares about profiting off of her talents. The playful cheer that she most often displays belies a deep sense of loneliness and sadness at the songs she once sang to make her dear mama happy being exploited for money.
Looking For: Sonia's a pretty successful idol, so anyone who's into that sort of thing would recognize her! What she really needs, though, is people who aren't into that sort of thing to befriend her and encourage her to open up about her problems. Maybe even an adult who could find out what a jerk her current guardian is and do something about it?

Anything else?: She's a Normal/Fairy-type Enlightened who can control sound waves with her music. Not only does this give her sonic attacks to defend herself with, it also means she never has to bother with a microphone! I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what ability would be best for her though...

Character Name: Vivi Ornitier
Canon Name: Final Fantasy IX
Brief History: A black mage who was created to be a soulless death machine, is instead an adorable wooby.

AU Ideas: HOO BOY okay I hope you all like angst. Vivi is an Enhanced child, initially created to bolster Gigas' army. He, along with quite a few others created with similar powers to him, has a very large flaw, however: in exchange for his Enhanced powers, he and his "siblings" have a very shortened lifespan. While it is not nearly as short as it is in canon (roughly a year), it is very unlikely that any who went through the same horrific transformation that he did will see adulthood. He will have no memory of any of this, or where he's originally from when apped in.

I'm toying with the idea of having him and the other "black mages" be from Mist, because I love crossing streams and puns and etc. Going Dark and either Normal or Psychic/Dragon for his typing, and Egg Mastery for his ability. Because why not.

He'll also have the rudest Murkrow in existence, because this poor child can never catch a break.
Looking For: Someone please take this adorable child under your wing. Other than that, Vivi needs friends to make him stop questioning his own existence (or at least get that down to a min) and help bolster his courage at least a little bit.

Brief History: Monkey boy becomes a hero (somehow), gets the girl.

AU Ideas: This one isn't nearly as fleshed out as Vivi, but Mankey shifter is a must. Like Vivi, would be some kind of Enhanced (plot enhanced), planted into Union to keep an eye on them. Except. He's kind of forgotten about that. Best secret weapon ever, this one.
Looking For: Terrible influences, or people he can be terrible influences on. People he can hang on to. Really, this boy is a handful who would want to be his friend.

Canon Name: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
Brief History: Member of a team investigating a Mysterious Ruin around Etria, team joins up with a guy from a warrior tribe and a girl who fall out of a cryostasis(?) pod to investigate the mysteries of the ruin which suspiciously tie into the mysteries of the a giant deathtrap labyrinth tree.

AU Ideas: Raquna's gonna be from a military family in Caldera, likely a member of the Steel Battalion herself. Might have her look to join the Seekers at some point. Not entirely sure what will go on between those two points, admittedly.
Looking For: People she'd have known in the Steel Battalion, drinking buddies, people for her to be a big sis at!

Character Name: Adrien Agreste
Canon Name: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
Brief History: Prodigious model son of famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, Adrien is the poster boy of Paris and everything his father could ever ask for. He's well-mannered, he's intelligent, he's a perfect combination of babyfaced, tall, and pretty to be a teenage model. He's... also the plucky sidekick half of Paris' crime-fighting duo, Chat Noir. Except nobody knows that. Superhero secret identity clause and all. You know the deal.

AU Ideas: Yes hello we need more Enhanced PCs and also I love making my children hurt. Adrien maintains his canon likeness of a prodigious son of a famous fashion designer-- except Gabriel Agreste also has a darker agenda with being a part of the Enhanced Project.

And, uh. He turned his son into a cat.

So because Adrien had a visual presence in Gigas he won't be talking about it, because he still for some reason loves his father even if now he's more than a lot terrified of him and ran away from him (because wow, he sure does have ears and a tail, and claws, and fangs, and he sure is a fucking catboy when he's not focused on looking like Adrien Agreste), and he'll be staggering his way into Union with his cheese-loving bratty Eevee, Plagg, wearing about a hundred scarves to hide the visual changes his Dark Typing have given him. There'll be a lot of Black Cat = Bad Luck going into him, so he'll have a small myriad of Negative Effects of Enhancements. As mentioned before, the nature of his enhancements adorned him with several visual cues of a Black Cat-- ears, tail, fangs, claws, and a black "mask", the coloration effectively just manifestations of his Dark typing shading his skin like coal. He has the ability to mask these changes to retain his usual appearance of Normal Pretty Teenage Boy, but they require a fair amount of focus to maintain so he's not going to be able to keep it up forever. He's probably also literally bad luck, though in early stages this may not be overtly noticeable.

Given that Chat Noir is characterized with an overly flirtatious attitude whereas Adrien is overall significantly less so, there's going to be a marked level of difference between how he behaves depending on how someone meets him. Basically, if you meet "Adrien", he'll be a normal kid, a touch on the quiet/anxious side, and probably still wearing an entire rack of sweaters. If you meet him when he either hasn't had a chance to or straight-up can't mask his Dark Typing, well-- he's going to be making himself a second persona to cope, more than likely naming the second one "Chat Noir". He's shooting himself in the foot with this, given how few people he's going to fool for very long, but especially once he realizes the freeing aspect of Not Having to Be Daddy's Poster Boy, he may actually grow into liking this whole Being a Cat bullshit.

Looking For: Someone please adopt this stray cat. And possibly take a squirt bottle to his face when he's a pain in the ass. This kid needs friends and this kid needs enemies, but mostly he really needs a hug and probably some kind of family circuit to keep him from going completely catatonic.

Character Name: Ryuko Matoi
Canon Name: Kill la Kill
Brief History: One day, Ryuko came home to find her dad on the floor with a giant scissor stuck through his gut. This pissed her off right quick and she decided to take the giant scissor and hunt down the sumbitch who offed her dad. Along the way, she ended up transferring to a new school to kick the shit out of everyone until she found her dad's killer. She also met a talking uniform named Senketsu that gave her super powers. She also found out that clothes are from outer space. And that she's a hybrid between human and clothing.

Kill la Kill is weird, man.

AU Ideas: So the idea I'm generally thinking for for Ryuko here is that she's an orphaned kid found and raised in Caldera. Pretty quick-tempered, even by Calderan standards, she probably pretty quickly grew a reputation as a delinquent and troublemaker not at all helped by the reveal that she was abandoned as an infant and, apparently, left to die by her real parents.

The twist is that she was actually born in Sanctuary, for the sole purpose of an experiment to create Enhanced Enlightened. When it appeared the infant Ryuko had perished during the experiments she was chucked on down the garbage chute but somehow managed to survive and was picked up and brought to safety, completely unaware of her real origins.

I'm still working on details but I'm figuring this probably came out somewhere along the line and she may have even gotten a tip and traveled to Union in pursuit. Other ideas would be that she was actually snuck out of Sanctuary by one or both of her parents at the cost of their lives at the hands of Gigas and this discovery leads her to declare war on Gigas itself. Because she makes great decisions.

Looking For: I'm open to all things. Rivals, naturally are immensely welcome for ridiculous angry shoutfights. Friends! Both the type to rush out and get into trouble right alongside her and to maybe even out her craziness a little. Friends and rivals need not even be mutually exclusive, frenemies are rad. I'm also open to any old friends from Caldera or even anybody who was a part of her adopted family back home. I dunno, if you've got an idea, fire away and I'll be stoked to talk about it.

Anything else?: She's an Enhanced God of War with Fighting/Dragon/Steel typing and her weakness to Fighting types and a hair trigger temper and possibly some kind of terrifying instability in her powers somewhere down the line. I dunno, I'm working on it.

Brief History: Yup. So yeah, this is a canon OC of sorts. He's an orc shaman who loves to cook (using a fire spirit and a sacred totem to cook bacon), loves to fight, and aims to support his fellow orcs (and orcs only).

AU Ideas: Here Bor's a Fire/Fighting Kindred Soul from a Calderan warrior family who's come to Union to help with the aftermath of the battle (mostly to make sure all the cleanup crews and now-homeless get some food in them) and will decide to stick around. He's probably been in the Steel Battalion in the past, but I haven't finished working out the details there yet.

Looking For: Fellow cooks, people who he can move in with and cook for, restaurants who'll be willing to hire him despite the health regulation violations, people who he can bond with over fighting alongside of or against, people he knows from Caldera, former inhabitants of Gigas who he can be conflicted about because they aren't mustache-twirling Lillipup-kicking villains like he's always seen Gigans as, anything else you can think of.

Canon Name: Touhou Project
Brief History: Suika is an oni, one of the Four Devas of Mt. Ooe. More relevantly, she's a ridiculous party animal with super strength, whose primary engagement with society is to get as drunk as possible, attend wild parties, and accidentally break things. Actually pretty intelligent, but usually doesn't apply that intelligence to anything constructive. Hobbies include drinking, causing a ruckus, punching things, attending parties, and doing all of those things while drinking.

AU Ideas: I'm looking at Suika as a Fanalis, like Morgiana! The idea is that she'd show up, possibly looking like the start of some new mystery or subplot, but then instead she just hangs out with everyone getting shitfaced and trolling people, possibly occasionally helping out when there's a big fight. Tentative power list: Super strong, Can turn insubstantial (ghost type), doesn't age properly (age 70).

Looking For: Any of the following:
People who enjoy loud parties for her to hang out with.
People who enjoy friendly violence for her to punch.
Stuffy people who she can be irreverent around.
Big things for her to pick up and throw at other things.

Character Name: Sheev Palpatine
Canon Name: Star Wars
Brief History: The secret Sith Lord who masqueraded as a Senator, to arrange a galactic civil war that overthrew the Republic. Then he formed an Empire, exterminated the Jedi, and got to do the best hammy villain lines ever. We're talking some Black Forest maple glaze quality villainy here.

AU Ideas: Palpatine is a humble Councilman of Union, who is concerned first and foremost with agricultural policy. He is typically grandfatherly, kind, and humble; of course, the truth is something else. His act as an Unenlightened, ordinary human is quite an act. In truth, he is a power hungry and vicious manipulator with rather terrible plans for the entire world. He also is the leader of a cult known as the Sith, which rejects the philosophy of the Savior, and instead believes that Enlightened should become the new gods of the world.

He also sometimes moonlights as Darth Sidious, a mysterious cloaked individual who explores ruins and the countryside. He is something of a mysterious, but extremely menacing, figure here.
Looking For: Lots! Palpatine is here to be a bad guy. He has an agenda and he is pushing it. He is looking for people that he can manipulate into doing his bidding; he is also looking for people that he can manipulate into joining the Dark Side him. If you're interested, hit me up. He is out as both Sidious and being a more genial, pleasant fellow as the Councilman.

He can also provide opposition and whatnot. Palpatine is interested in the past; this especially includes ruins, where he wants ancient technology and knowledge. If you're organizing a ruins exploration and want him to try to beat people to the punch, I'm happy to do that!

Lastly, as a simple Councilman, Palpatine has been serving in Union's Council for 43 years. He likely knows any given noble family; he definitely knows anyone else on the Council. Palpatine was typically humble and kind of to the side -- advocating agriculture, infrastructure expansion, and other issues is hardly controversial -- but there can certainly be past interactions.

Anything else?: Palpatine has an obfuscation ability; this keeps people from realizing that he is Enlightened when he pretends to be a simple, unenlightened Councilman. You can read the specifics here.

Character Name: Satsuki Kiryuin
Canon Name: Kill la Kill
Brief History: The blue oni to Ryuko Matoi's red oni - Satsuki is introduced in Kill la Kill as an antagonist rival to the hero, ruler of her school and the surrounding town with an iron fist. Of course, things are rarely quite so simple, as we see her ambitions are far more in line with Ryuko's than we initially see, with them eventually joining forces to overthrow their mother, Ragyo.

AU Ideas: The base idea running here is that Satsuki's family while hailing from Sanctuary and being of some nobility, supported Gigas in their occupation. Satsuki was raised with a much more militaristic viewpoint than is common for that land, and as such her physical combat style clashes heavily with what is generally expected there.

Satsuki being Satsuki, she planned and executed upon a plan to undermine and usurp her mother for the betterment of the country around her - of course taking her family down also meant their status collapsed with it, prompting her to move on to greener pastures. In this case - especially after recent events have brought quite a bit of chaos - that would be Union. She's got less (much less) to work with in terms of resources, so that would be an interesting angle to start her from, opposed to how I have in the past.

Looking For: ANY. THING. Satsuki is likely to fall somewhere in between the two extremes of the personalities we see from her in canon - not quite the overbearing queen we first see, but not quite as soft (for lack of a better word) as she ends up by the end. Past CR to get a starting point into things would be splendid, but so would planning out run ins for the near future.

Canon Name: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
Brief History: The Law, humanoid aspect. Will eventually be an admiral in the space navy, fly his own battleship, and get promoted right out of canon by virtue of being male. An Ice Person. Has a tragic past largely involving a magic book that killed his father.

AU Ideas: SO. Chrono is coming from Sanctuary as part of the event that stared a couple days ago that's bringing people from all over to Union so they can help with rebuilding. His father met a similar end in this world as he did in canon, dying a heroic death there many years ago to protect people. Chrono and his mother, Lindy, continued to live in Sanctuary, and weren't quite ready to leave when the city was liberated some months ago, but with the new call for reconstruction, he's looking to help, and obviously he can't just leave his mother behind.

They'll end up deciding to stay in Union, and Chrono will figure out what to do with himself from there. He's an Ice/Steel Master of Battle, so he'll be more suited to defense than to construction, but that won't stop him from lending a hand. He'll also have a little bit of a vested interest in making sure anyone ELSE making the trip gets to Union in one piece, and stays that way.

Looking For: Chrono is going to be 15% less stick-in-the-mud than he was in canon. Which means he's still fairly stubborn and not terribly social, so people to make him open up would be good. He's kind of a tactician in this incarnation, since he can't be overwatch without his dimensional cruiser (and resulting teleporter and please-die-lots cannon), so people he can battle and train with would be good. And, of course, people he can accompany for trips into the wilderness, along with his Aron partner. Absent his "mission" in canon, he'll be something of a guardian, I think.

Anything else?: I am still figuring out what to do with Lindy, Chrono's mother! Clearly she had to do something in Sanctuary to pay the bills, and she'll have to do something in Union, too. I'm trying not to do too much with her, since she's appable, but I probably need to explain Chrono not being totally self-sufficient somehow.
