Kaido definitely falls under juvenile delinquent, though he's gone clean in the last year to avoid bringing trouble to his found family.
He tends to respect people with goals, and people who are pro-active, rather than strength in itself (he likes strength of character, and will recognise intelectual and emotional strength and not just physical). People who follow through with their ideas and ideals, etc. So Sanageyama would have to earn respect this way.
That being said, he'd be on at least vaguely friendly terms with someone he's helped out in a fight (or who helped him) so it's possible to go that route too. Or having helped him investigate his brother's death? He'd definitely be grateful for that.
