This is an open testrun meme. Posts here may be used in lieu of a sample entry for any applications. For your convenience, we've provided a few prompts, but feel free to make your own!

1. Team Evolution is looking to set up a new machine test near Union. Are you here to help? Stop them? Observe?

2. A day at the races! Today in the Rhyhorn track, it's a complex course with several barricades, vertical climbs, and downhill slopes. Are you a racer? Spectator? What brings you here this fine day?

3. You're out exploring, be it at sea, or perhaps expanding into new, uncharted territories. Where are you? What are you doing?

4. Pokemon Battle! Perhaps it's training, perhaps you're protecting something important, perhaps you're striking out against something vile. Why are you in this fight and what are you doing?

5. Wildcard! Invent a prompt!

Ah!

[ For a moment, Usagi just stops the splashing all together, but then once she gets a good look at how Mana is just as waterlogged as she is... well... she starts laughing really hard. ]

Cleffa (I remember where they are! Come on!)

[ Pinky is just chalking it up to another day in the life of her human partner. She's just going to lead the other towards where the poke treats are! ]

Oh, wow ... My mom never shared the ability to talk to Pokemon with me, but she knew that I could.

[ She continues to pet Cheryl with a warm smile. ]

You're lucky, to be able to share that with your Grandma.

[Cheryl lets out a little cheer before moving to follow Pinky]

[Mana meanwhile, sputters and spits out water, trying to wipe the water out of her eyes]

F-ffff... what's so funny, Usagi?!

Ha, well... I was really lucky to have a grandma as great as mine...

[she sighs a bit wistfully, a sad smile on her face]

I really miss her.

[It may be Mana's job to help out her family, but it's someone else's job entirely to make sure she doesn't over do it. Or do anything stupid. Or... any combination of those things. They usually came together. As did Rikka with Mana, hence why she's just coming back from hauling some supplies to the food stall.

Most people would wonder aloud if they're getting paid enough for this, but Rikka is well aware that if the Aida family had been keeping a tab for all the meals she'd gotten off of them, it would never be paid off. So she doesn't complain.

[Somewhere, there is a cave. For some reason, Rikka Hishikawa thought it was a good idea at the time to go into this cave. The shortest distance between two points was a straight line, right? Better to just cut straight through. Besides, between her Pokemon and her own powers, she should have been just fine.

Yet instead, a scream comes echoing from out of the cave and moments later, there is a teenage girl fleeing with her hands over her head, a distressed looking Poliwag scrambling after her.]

Flaque, this was a very, very bad idea! What was I thinking?!

[Oh, also.

A horde of Zubats.]

[Behold Rikka Hishikawa: super nerd. She is minding her own business, heading home. Completely normal, of course - except for the fact she is carrying a comically huge pile of books in her hands that she can't very well see over.

She's probably going to run right into you, if you're not careful.

By probably, we mean "definitely."]

[Mana couldn't help but smile even wider]

[Mana saw Rikka approaching... And the load she was carrying. Nodding to herself, she moved to prepare something.

Once Rikka reached them and set down the supplies, Mana sidled up to her and presented her with a drink]

Here you go! Consider it a reward for working so hard!

So she's no longer with us?

[ Aww, sad ... ]

I'm sorry. My dad died, too, so I guess I understand.

[ Her dad died when she was really itty bitty though, and she spent her life living in his shadow. ]

[ WHOA THAT WAS A SCREAM. Without thinking at all, Hilda's taking off in the direction of the scream, eager to help whoever is in peril! Sam takes off after her, worried for his partner more than he is worried for anyone else. She was so impulsive, sometimes ...

And then, a blur of blue followed by .... more blue, passed her. Hilda screeched to a halt, looked around, and then started running right after her again. ]

H-Hey! Hey, are you okay?!

[Mana nodded slowly]

It was several years ago... around the time I first met Cheryl, actually.

[Mana's expression grows sadder, but she doesn't say much more]

When... when did you lose your papa...?

[there was a loud snarl, before a blast of blue fire flew out over Rikka and Flaque's heads, shooting at the flock of Zubats.

The source? An Axew, sitting on a nearby rock, spewing an attack that looked like Dragon Rage]

I was two. I don't remember a lot about him personally ...

[ she had several reminders of what a genius he was while growing up, though. ]

[ Of course, Usagi doesn't know that she has a few pieces of seaweed stuck to her buns, making her look like a sea monster than anything else. ]

You look a mess like that!

[Rikk and Flaque... keep on running, not slowing for an instant. Which is good, because neither do the Zubats. She does spare a sidelong, irritable glance in the other girl's direction, though.]

What part of this looks okay?!

[Rikka and her partner skid to a halt, the blast scattering the Zubats and sending a large portion of them fleeing back into the darkness they came from.

Where they could stay, if Rikka had anything to say about it. Turns out a simple bit of resistance was well enough to let them know not to mess around.

...

She supposes she should have thought of that, but panic sort of takes over when a dozen fanged creatures suddenly rush you. She breathes a sigh of relief, and then... just reaches up, scoops up the Poliwag into her arms, and starts to hustle away.

Mostly because.

She didn't want to pick a fight with the Axew, now. Well enough of that for today, thanks!]

... Hey! Where are you going?! You're not hurt, are you?!

[the voice comes... from behind Rikka. From the same rock Axew had been sitting on, in fact. A young boy had popped out from behind it... the Axew's trainer, apparently]

[If anything can make anything better, Mana's smile is just one of those things that can last forever to Alice and improve any situation. Lance shakes off the sand in his fur before climbing into Alice's arms.]

[Rikka stops short and turns slightly, a very tired look being cast in the boy's direction. Okay, so maybe there wasn't much to worry about there. Not that she wasn't going to be just a little suspicious at such a timely save.

Rikka was not one to believe in coincidences.]

I'm fine, but I'm going away from here before an entire cave full of Zubats try to eat us. Again.

Poli!

[It's a distinct confirmation, if nothing else.]

[A slight blink, and a breath. Rikka takes the drink gratefully, but gives something of a sardonic smile.]

I'd think this is the least of what I'd be getting. [After all, she could get a drink herself. Regardless...] But... thanks.

[A sip, and:] Is everything going well enough, then?

[Nate grit his teeth, and took off after her, lest she get too far away to hear his voice]

Maybe, but that direction leads further into the cave! If you want to get away from Zubats, that's the wrong way!

[There's another couple of steps, before Rikka grinds to a halt. The Poliwag in her arms looks up at her curiously, and she sighs deeply.

Somehow, she figured out of her friends, she would be the last one to get lost.

This was never going to be mentioned to any of them. Ever.

So, she turns and looks back at him.]

...I don't want to take all day with a major detour, either.

[She furrows her brow in frustration.] I think I took a wrong turn to start with, at this point.

Mmm, I'm sorry I can't offer you more, Rikka. I promise, after today, we'll do something special together, you and me!

[at the other girl's question, she nods] Yes, actually... we've sold quite a bit! Papa's kebabs are the most popular...

I think it's a bit late for that, to be honest...

[he sighs, and raises his hands]

Look, I understand you're suspicious. Where I come from... that's everybody...
