This is an open testrun meme. Posts here may be used in lieu of a sample entry for any applications. For your convenience, we've provided a few prompts, but feel free to make your own!

1. Team Evolution is looking to set up a new machine test near Union. Are you here to help? Stop them? Observe?

2. A day at the races! Today in the Rhyhorn track, it's a complex course with several barricades, vertical climbs, and downhill slopes. Are you a racer? Spectator? What brings you here this fine day?

3. You're out exploring, be it at sea, or perhaps expanding into new, uncharted territories. Where are you? What are you doing?

4. Pokemon Battle! Perhaps it's training, perhaps you're protecting something important, perhaps you're striking out against something vile. Why are you in this fight and what are you doing?

5. Wildcard! Invent a prompt!

Thank goodness.

[She casts her shields away, her Cleffa jumping in victory. The Mr. Mimes do return to the scene when it's safe because they do wish to give thanks to their heroes. She leans down to shake their hands and pet their heads.]

I hope you all have a safe journey! Don't forget to thank the nice man as well, as his kindness helped us out greatly.

[ Seeing somebody else in the store, Hotaru realized why this could be a Bad Plan. Interacting with other people? Nnnnoooope. That was not in her itinerary for the day.

She maneuvered herself so there were a few lamps in between her and the other girl before going back to innocently browsing their selection. A few minutes later, and she noticed in the corner of her eye that the other girl was still there.

...She seemed awfully focused on those lamps. A lot of the more feminine ones - Hotaru tended towards the darker ones herself, but she could tell there were some good ones in the lamps this girl was looking at. And some bad ones.

Clenching her hand for a moment, she steeled herself, but on a false smile, and quickly made her way over to the girl. ]

Not that one [ she refers to the one that Yayoi is looking at currently ] it hasn't been well taken care of. [ She gently moves around the other girl, glancing at one of the ones she had been looking at earlier. Pink. ] This one's much better, if you don't mind the light being bright. Or this one [ she motions towards a white lamp with a gentle design ] if you're looking for something more elegant.

[ Why was she doing this? Putting herself out like this? Hotaru doesn't even know, herself. ]

The library...? [ Hotaru considers that for a moment. A proper library has a lot of books, right? Surely more than scientific journals, like her father had amassed.

She did enjoy that book of poetry she had. ]

I think I might enjoy that. [ She doesn't know she has to deal with people. ]

[frog_wallet]

[Nope, she wasn't leaving here without a gift, no matter how overwhelming and how completely out of her element she was. All she had to do was pick one! One that Kasumi would love! You can do this, Yayoi!

Reaching her hand out for one, the redhead stopped when she heard a gentle voice.]

Huh?

[Turning toward the other girl, she blinked a few times.]

You can tell?

[Yayoi looked at it again. It looked perfectly fine to her. Hmmmmm.

Her expression changed quickly when Hotaru pointed out the white lamp, however, smile shining brighter than the lamps there on the shelf. That was it!]

It's prefect! Kasumi will love this one!

[The redhead tilted her head slightly.]

You're really good at this! It's like you really understand these lamps! Thank you!

[threemoms]

[ Ahahaha, what is praise? Hotaru blushes, stepping back. Her job was done here, right? ]

N-No problem. I just collect lamps, that's all.

[ Quick, extradite yourself, Hotaru! Can she turn into an Absol here? ]

[frog_wallet]

You do? Really? Isn't that kind of expensive?

[Sorry, Hotaru, no getting away from her. Not right away, at least.

And Yayoi would probably still want to take you home even if you did.]

[ SHE'S TRAPPED ]

It's... it's really not too expensive? [ Did she forget to mention that her guardians are filthy rich? ] I don't buy too many at once anyway.

Of course! They are all winners already by how much effort they are giving.

[Right! Even if there are some people who take this seriously with betting and the prizes, but it's never like that to her. It's just fun to watch and cheer for them all.]

[Expensive = more than 10 dollars to this girl.]

You mean you buy more than one at a time?!

[See? This is why they're friends. Totally on the same wave length!]

But I really hope the shiny one wins!

[aww, Hotaru. Really, you should be watching out for Michiru, not Haruka.

Anyway, she'll do all the checking-out/returning the first bunch of times. All Hotaru has to do is observe and pick out books.]

How does tomorrow morning sound? [there will probably be way less people that early in the morning.]

[Hoshi is glad to help Sunshine out with her powers!

Meanwhile, another Pokémon joins the help in the fight against Geodudes!!! Or well, Lance the Teddiursa finally returns from evacuation duty to give a surprise push to knock one Geodude off the cliff. How he climbed up so fast, no clue, but Rosetta couldn't let him be up there in middle of the fight. The Mr. Mimes increased their power into their invisible shields.]

Lance!

[Pokémon of Pretty Cures doing all they can to help, even if they could seriously get hurt. She takes this opening to jump into the fray, a shield formed to smack some Geodudes away to protect her bear friend. Hoshi continues to use Magical Leaf around them.

This should be enough to distract them and let the Mimes escape, but that Graveler is getting close to takings things into it's own hands.]

[actsmagnificent]

[ ......Erk. If you grow up to be a small Michiru, she swears to the God they're trying to find....

Haruka snorts noncommittally, in part to clear something that just caught in her throat. Yeah, about that. ] You're observant.

[ Shoot, that came out rude. Haruka should know better than to be snippy with the kid. She's the adult here! So she tries again, in a lighter tone. Show interest in the child, be bigger than this. Until the girl is proven to be a threat to the city, Haruka has no reason for ill will - even though Hotaru does. ] Did you want to be in the plays, too?

Ah, well, all in a job. That's what rangers are here for.

[He looks a bit sheepish for the gratitude.]

[threemoms]

In the plays? [ That actually catches her off guard for a moment, allowing her to momentarily forget both her sass and attitude. ] You mean... up on stage?

No thank you. [ She doesn't even consider that. ] I don't know the first thing about acting. And the people... [ Too many people. ]

[threemoms]

[ Hotaru gives a smile. It's small, but it's genuine. It's not a smile that speaks volume of happiness and warmth, more... cautious optimism. ]

That sounds good.

[threemoms]

Is... that strange? [ IT'S WEIRD, ISN'T IT?

This is why she dealt with Pokémon, not people. She goes and opens her mouth and now people think she's weird. She couldn't even go one conversation without messing that up. ]

[actsmagnificent]

[ Hotaru off guard means Haruka also opens up, a little. Enough to smile. Almost. It's probably there. ] They're not all that bad, you know.

[ ......there are kids out here. Why are there kids. Okay, Haruka's not much older than a lot of them (she isn't even twenty yet), but if it stares like a kid and talks like a kid, then it's a kid. The only one in this gathering who even looks like they might know what they're doing is the kid in charge. Some sort of training, then...?

Either way, this isn't good. That group is walking right towards the area Haruka's been assigned to scout, and the last thing she needs is a bunch of kids mucking up what might be a ruin with clues about the Legendary Pokémon, preserved from the elements in a cave on this mountain.

So stay alert, Itsuki. There's someone watching you from behind some tall rocks. ]

[that gets a smile in return, but she won't push anymore. They've got time, after all.

She turns her attention back to the races. Looks like things are winding down. Perhaps they can go home soon.]

There's too many of them. [ It's not about good or bad, not for something like that. She's had no socialization for, like, most of her life. Baby steps. ]

[actsmagnificent]

[ Haruka's starting to get it, and is amused at the bias her own blinders show. Martyr complex much, self? Absurd.

So she dips her head in concession of the point. ] I won't argue with that.

[ She's playing hooky from rehearsal herself, after all. ]

[ Hotaru's willing to leave it at that. She went back to what she was doing originally - checking out the lamps. There were a few that caught her eye, here. A purple desk lamp, intricate designs in black swirling over it. Another with varying shades of blue. They'd both do nicely, but there was no way Hotaru could.... ]

[ ...Do you see this expression, Haruka? She learned it from watching how Michiru handled you. ]

Harukaaa.... since you're hanging out with me instead of being at your rehearsal, would you mind carrying some of these back with me? [ And by "with" she means that Haruka will be doing all of the carrying. ]
