AU PLANNING MEME (APRIL + MAY)

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Character Name: Cloud Strife
Canon Name: Final Fantasy VII
Brief History: Born and raised in a small little middle of nowhere town, Cloud headed to Midgar in an attempt to join SOLDIER--an elite group of fighters within the military--to prove himself. Ended up failing and was placed as a foot soldier. Killed Sephiroth. Was badly injured in the process and then experimented on. Lost most of his memories and ended up thinking he was someone else and then goes on an epic adventure to kill Sephiroth once more. (Things end happily but yeah that's the gist of it)

AU Ideas: It was suggested to me that Enhanced might be a good route to go with Cloud and I really like the idea of that! He'd have the same sort of small town background but then would have been taken and experimented on to become one of the artificial Enlightened. He'd definitely have a mental trigger that made him lose control at times and just attack others for no reason whatsoever. (I'm thinking it might be a word or something like that, or a phrase maybe, but I'm not entirely sure on that yet.)

His memories will be all skewed and he won't remember much of his past outside of his mother. He remembers her for sure. Cloud won't think he's someone else in this case but he just has empty holes in his memories and because of that his personality suffers. (aka is basically nonexistent to start.)

So..yeah! That's basically the gist I have so far and it's not much at all. BD;;;

Looking For: I definitely want to play with some canon parallels with him but instead of him thinking he's Zack I think I may go for a more adopts the traits of other's he interacts with sort of thing. But I want to definitely sort of twist his canon history and mimic it here just because it fits well with what the Enhanced are.

Canon Name: The Flash
Brief History: Barry Allen is a CSI trying to gather evidence to clear the name of his father who was imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit. One night, a particle accelerator exploded and Barry was struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma he woke up to find out that he could now jab physics in the eye and run and run crazy fast.

Now he fights crime and occasionally runs fast enough to time travel. Because Speed Force.

AU Ideas: I was actually thinking of having Barry start out as a regular old Gigan citizen and plain old human set on a scientific Path by his society but who always sort of rebelled on the down low by delving into investigative and CSI work. I'd probably keep his father being framed but for different reasons and under different circumstances (unless somebody wants to talk a Reverse Flash) like looking too closely into the Gigases or something similar. Either way, Barry will probably have a bit more of a sense of right and wrong and stubborn determination to Do The Right Thing than an average Gigan in his place.

Like canon, I'm thinking an accident might give him his powers as an effective Electric/Flying Enhanced with a focus on physics-smashing superspeed and a drawback of needing to put away 10,000 calories a day to function. From there, he'd have run to Union because... those guys know about this stuff, I guess? Right?

Looking For: Man, just about anything. People to pal around with or have to prove himself to because of being a Gigan. Reverse Flash. Mage types to talk science vs. magic with. Time travel. The chance to be a hero. I dunno, come at me. He's a good guy and likely to get involved in all kinds of junk.

Canon Name: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2
Brief History: An ordinary high school student signs up for a creepy website and then promptly gets mired in supernatural bullshit involving demons while the world goes to hell in a handbasket. A semi-questionable organization and giant, mysterious attackers known as Septentriones are involved.

AU Ideas: So I have very little set in stone for what I'm actually gonna do with bunnyhood here, but I'm definitely thinking he's either going to be a Kindred Soul (if I want to play on a 'good with others' angle) or a God of War (if I take the 'OP SMT protag' route) from Union, who awakened as an Enlightened due to some kind of near-death experience? I'm utterly at a loss on types, though, so any suggestions would be fantastic!
Looking For: Anything! Friends, rivals, people for him to bother. Bunnyhood's good with all sorts, so any kind of CR would be welcome for him!

Character Name: Yui Nanase
Canon Name: Go! Princess Precure
Brief History: The official sidekick. A civilian - no powers whatsoever. Likes drawing, and dreams of becoming a picture book author. A fan of fairy tales and legends. Has surprising force of will in a somewhat shy, quiet, occasionally fiercely passionate package. Her friends turn into legendary warriors who are also princesses. Bonds fairly quickly and has absolute faith that her friends can power through whatever comes their way.

AU Ideas: Still a civilian! Probably still the designated sidekick, but Yui here is going to have a bit more force of personality and a little more independence. Still, she'll attach readily to friends. Grew up in Union, but was a little detached from people and places and things, so it's possibly she's a little sheltered, purely by accident. Which is not to say she doesn't want to explore things! She just knows, intellectually, she shouldn't explore alone. Without friends near to hand, is at least somewhat likely to fall apart in a crisis. Stubborn, especially when she knows she's right. Normally fairly gentle, but firm. Is part of an average family that does average things and is of at most average importance in Union - that is to say, fairly little. Isn't terribly interested in gaining power, or marked fame... just enough to be someone that people don't mind being friends with.

Looking For: I want excuses to play off Yui's usual downtime habit of sketching things, probably more casually than normal; if she gets bored, or she sees something pretty or striking, she'll pause and grab her sketchbook out of her pack and settle down for a couple minutes. Which of course means I need shenanigans, either with it disappearing, or people finding art of themselves or their belongings/homes/Pokémon/etc., or noticing themselves being drawn. Also, she's very prone to getting caught up in things, or in other people's wake, so if someone needs an extra set of hands for something, she'll probably wind up along for the ride on occasion. Beyond that... cute things, fun things, heartwarming things. Yui is both more intelligent and more empathetic than she lets on sometimes.

Anything else?: At some point, Yui will have a glorious awakening as an Enlightened, making her the Princess canon time forgot, but until then, she'll settle for some Princess castmates. That doesn't mean she won't bond well with would-be magic types of all kinds, this being AU, and really with almost anyone. Friennnnnnds~! no seriously Yui needs friends, get on that

Okay, let's see if I remember how to do this thing.

Of course, we've discussed various things so far, but one fun thing for AU and RP in general I think is interacting a lot more one-on-one with other castmates, such as Minami here, than we got to see on screen. I'm really interested in seeing where that goes, especially with what we've established in our own planning.

Shenanigans are, generally, the idea yes. ... Though I feel like I'll have a lot more in the way of solid ideas once wheels are actually in motion and not just being greased.

Character Name: Lyn (Lyndis)
Canon Name: Fire Emblem
Brief History: After saving a tactician who passed out in the middle of nowhere and had amnesia, Lyn is sucked into a succession crisis where she is the next in line to inherit the throne. After resolving at, she joins a friend who helped her to save his dad and ends up helping to off a dragon. SUCH IS LIFE.

AU Ideas:
Long story short, the start of Lyn's life is the same. Living in the plains, parents killed by bandits, etc. It diverges when she awakens her POWERS but remains on the plains, working with the Pokemans to live alone and by herself. After chilling for a while and making a living, she was picked up by Valkyries.

And totally joined them. So yeah, that's totally a thing. For the rest of her life, she was pretty much a wanderer with that title attached to her. Her main goal is to help out people who need help and to basically kill bandits and people who are evil. There's no mercy with this one.

Looking For: I'm just starting out so I'm open to ideas! And definitely want CR with whomever wants to join in!

Gwendolyn is also a Valkyrie, recently graduating to a full fledged wingleader and who arrived in Union at the turn of the new year.

Unfortunately her NPC wing were mostly killed by the Elite Four's attack back in January :c but she's still here, and will certainly welcome a fellow fighter from home! Gwen's from the Ragnanival tribe, who are a bit old fashioned and formal, who have herds to the north of Citadel, and she's the younger sister of its elder. Lyn and Gwen would no doubt have trained together, so Lyn would likely have met Mami (wishingalone) too! :)

Training pals is probably a good thing. And Lyn would prefer not to lose touch with people so spending time together in the meantime is always an option.

Character Name: Felicia
Canon Name: Fire Emblem: Fates
Brief History: Daughter of a chieftain in the far north is kidnapped by a not nice King and held hostage with her twin sister. They become servants of that castle, though Felicia doesn't see her situation like that. They bond with another abducted Royal and Felicia chooses to stay by that person's side instead of joining her sister in protecting their homelands in the North.

She is also a terrible maid, but a good fighter.

AU Ideas: If glacier is the ice tribes and a sanctuary is nohr, i can actually parallel canon pretty well with or with out gigas involvement. Felicia herself is an ice type master of battle who would rather not be so good at fighting-- and there is possibly a Forrest she might be traveling to Union with as bodyguard. Her starter is likely a mareep or a swablu-- I'm undecided. She will definitely have some healing skills too.

Looking For: ANYTHING. I'm down with all sorts of cr for this clumsy young lady, and a few things are already in store for her. Mostly, she is a magnet for silliness and i would like to keep it that way.

Canon Name: Tales of Graces
Brief History:

Richard is the King of Windor, who took the throne after his father's untimely death and the coup his uncle tried to pull to take it. When he was just a child he was taken to Lhant while his uncle poisoned his brother and sister in law in cold blood. While there, he befriends the game's protagonist and a strange girl named Sophie. Because of his noble bearing, Richard was not able to make friends before this and Asbel and Sophie become his best friends for life. Upon returning to Windor, his uncle tried to poison Richard as well and it left him quite sickly in his youth as his body tried to fight it off. Because of this, Richard grew up fragile and guarded heavily to keep from being killed. Once killing his uncle, Richard took his rightful place on the throne and

...proceeded to try and kill all of his friends and betrayed the party. You know, your usual Tales of for you. Due to an incident in his childhood, Richard was possessed by the entity Lambda who slowly drove him to the brink of insanity. He nearly dies but is instead saved by his closest friend, Asbel Lhant, and goes back to ruling peacefully.

AU Ideas:

Richard will be a noble of Union, though one that not many have ever met before. Because of his family situation Richard will have been kept locked up tight. I'd like his uncle to be in some kind of position of power after the tragedy that was his mother and father's ~accidents~. The only thing I don't have an idea for is the Lambda parallel, which might be helped by a refresher on some BNW lore but we'll see. Basically Lambda is an immortal entity who is eternally a child and cannot die. The warped personality Richard develops is really toxic and gross and obsessive and gets worse the more he tries to fight it.

Looking For: I don't know if it's possible for Richard to be straight up royalty but fragile bird prince is kind of his MO. I wanna play with that a lot. Other possibilities is him ending up very into the Swords and the lore of the Savior.
