AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

hokay here is the promised theater writeup, much of which you already know since you read the info page

The Union Divine Theater is one of the most popular theater troupes in Union. They put on ridiculously melodramatic, silly musicals - if you're familiar with the Takarazuka Revue, think a parody of that except they do allow male actors. No two performances are ever the same because Haruka can never be bothered to memorize her lines, except she's also usually a lead, so everybody else takes their cues from her girlfriend Michiru as Michiru attempts to salvage the blasted thing. Costuming thus far has been mostly handled by Haruka's Leavanny Natto, but Ruby from Pokémon Special is going to be involved as well moving forward. (There's a full list of DDF members on the organizations page - most people are actors except Sanae has also been helping out with everyday cooking/cleaning-type stuff in the theater dorms.)

That's the side of themselves the theater presents to the world. In secret, they also comprise a cell of the "Divine Defense Force", a group of people who are searching for signs that the old gods are returning while seeking to prevent the destruction of the world at those gods' hands/paws/talons. Haruka is in charge of the PC-run theater, but there's technically a handwaved HQ somewhere and a few dropped characters who are also members....elsewhere, now. Since Right's a Union native, it'd be up to you whether you wanted him to be transferring to the theater from another branch or whether you want to play out his discovering that it's not Just A Theater. (Or a mix of the two, where he's sent to work there but doesn't know yet about the secret life.) Full Divine Defense Force members do get a fancy uniform, though, because nothing says "secret organization" like themed outfits.

And uh I think that's it for what's been done with the theater thus far. Right would get free housing in the theater complex, which contains the actual theater and a dorm in addition to a walled courtyard with a single Berry tree in it. Said courtyard has absolutely no luck since every time somebody evolves they end up trashing it. It is now, as a result, insured.

Oh, man, I would love to play out Right stumbling on the fact that It's Not Just A Theater. He'd also help out with the props and getting the sets up and everything. He's also got a good good singing voice, so he could also fill in for some minor acting roles to get started, too. And thanks to canon, I now have head-canon that he doesn't mind wearing girl's clothing if it's part of a role, or just for play-pretend. :3

And free housing would be awesome! Right would take full advantage of it just to show his parents that yes, he is ready to be a grown adult. (No, he's not really.) Just hope that his fellow theater members wouldn't mind his childish antics and him getting into scuffles with bullies and meanies.

Haruka only plays male roles so cross-casting is totally acceptable at this theater! Having PCs working on set design and stage crew stuff would also be great. There's been talk now and then of getting a new play underway so now that a big event has just wrapped up, we should probably.....get on finalizing plans for that, whoops. (We've played out one play already, and Haruka and Michiru also entered a contest by a rival theater wherein Pokémon performed.)

Antics also sound like a lot of fun. Just speaking for myself, they might lead to complicated CR with Haruka because she takes the DDF side of things Very Seriously, but I'm p. sure she's outnumbered so ANTIC AWAY.

Yaaaay, new play in the works. Right will definitely be lending a hand!

And he does take the whole "fighting against evil" seriously in canon. He just doesn't show that more than necessary, being the eternal optimist of the group.

Sounds good. :) Did you want him to already be involved in plays or should we play out his getting involved in the theater, too? They have a fairly large presence in Union - huge posters when a new play is coming up, etc. etc., so he might know of the Union Divine Theater even if they don't have a play on right now.

I would love to play out him getting involved with the Divine Theater! Maybe along the lines of him transferring from a rival theater group?

That sounds good! There's the Kricketune Theaters who specialize mostly in shows with Pokémon, or you could handwave a different place. Either way, they'll have a dorm room open for him. also what are your thoughts on UNNECESSARILY INTENSE FAKE FENCING

Then, let's make it one of the other, not-so-good theaters where Right thought he was gonna get some stage action, but was constantly told "no, you stay off the stage and behind the scenes." He definitely would've transferred because he couldn't stand those jerks any longer. Also, FRACK, YES, FAKE FENCING!!
