AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Character Name: Char Aznable, AKA Quattro Bajeena
Canon Name: Mobile Suit Gundam
Brief History: Char is from the very first Gundam, where he was the icon red masked ace character. He was secretly the son of the murdered leader of the space colonists, and sought revenge on the people in charge. This drove him to do many sad things, and he eventually kind of cracked. He then became more of a mentor/good guy in Zeta Gundam, which is very roughly an analogue for who he is at BNW.

AU Ideas: Here, he is a former soldier of Gigas. As Char Aznable, he had made quite a name for himself; he was called "The Red Comet," and was highly effective in the war against Caldera. He fought and killed a few Calderans, being a rare Gigan Enlightened. Char eventually was involved in an incident where a commander was killed in an ambush, though, and this led to a demotion and being reassigned to a new squad. After a subordinate he cared a lot about was killed, he ultimately faked his death. Gigas thinks he is MIA, probably KIA.

Char took the name "Quattro Bajeena," and joined Union's Rangers to see what they're about. Also, to use them to attack Gigas, hopefully.

Looking For: There are two great options here! The first is if your character fought at Caldera, either as a Calderan or the Union force that went to help, Char may have fought them on the battlefield. He wore a mask and acted a bit differently (more cocky, more of a jerk, honestly), but there is potential there. Also, if they came from Gigas, Char definitely may have known them.

Second, he just showed up in the Rangers as Quattro. He needs pals.

I don't know if they would have fought since she was bigger on stealth than direct engagement, but Kikyo here was a Calderan soldier during the war, so she'd definitely know about Char at the very least.

Ooh yeah, that makes sense! He may not have seen her if she was stealth but he might have heard of her, at least?

She held a fairly important position as the officer in charge of intelligence, so that's not at all implausible.

Excellent! Yeah, then I figure he knows of her without knowing her. He'll be a bit surprised if he runs into her in Union.

I will preface this by saying that I know absolutely nothing about Gundam. I saw Wing once, as it aired in the US of A, but that's basically it.

However, Yuuna here is a Ranger. Fairly new herself, and I can definitely offer her as a pal/fellow Ranger. She's not really a military minded person, more an explorer, but she's practical to a fault. I'd be happy to give CR a shot. She'd probably have heard about Char, since she follows the news and such closely, but she wasn't present at the battle itself.

Additionally, if he's at all spiritually inclined or likes quiet places, I could offer Rei Hino CR.

No worries! It's the wonderful thing about AU's.

Both of these sound good to me! CR sounds great with Yuuna; Quattro is more military-minded given his background, but he wants to explore, too, and wants to know what's out there (even if it's to use against Gigas, sooner or later).

He is, in fact, somewhat spiritually inclined! He likes quiet places and he's curious about the Church of the Savior and, well, generally figuring out bigger questions of that kind. So he could run into Rei, too?

That is something Yuuna's starting to get more inclined towards, the idea of possible war. She's a bit unsure about it, but I am sure it'd be kind of cool to do. She's got a bit of a hard streak that doesn't come up much, but I'd like to play with and this sounds like CR that might bring that out more.

Rei herself isn't a part of the Church of the Savior, she's actually a priestess for a small shrine to spirits or what passes for them in this world in Ninetales Vale, but that's totally open to the public and has a bit of a reputation. She does as well, given her fortune telling skills and psychic talents, so there's potential there!

Oh yeah, he can definitely talk about that and offer his thoughts! It's definitely on his mind, so it's likely to come up sooner or later.

And yeah, that sounds good! He'd definitely go visit the shrine, and see what it's about. Also maybe get his fortune read, for curiosity's sake.
