AU PLANNING MEME

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Character Name: Malik Isthar
Canon Name: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Brief History: He grew up underground and is heir to the Tomb Keepers, as well as the leader of a bunch of Ghouls who hunt down rare trading cards, all so he can collect the three God cards and kill the Pharaoh who's been dead for 3,000 years, but he thinks killed his father.

He has a split personality and he's a selfish jerk who loves his family and is bad at showing it.

AU Ideas: This is all pretty much settled out. He'll come from an underground clan just outside of Gigas that worshiped the three legendaries from X and Y. Enhancement tech was stolen from Gigas and that combined with the back-carving ritual he underwent caused him to get a split personality. After his father was murdered he has now gone on a quest to collect rare and powerful Pokemon so he can punch the legendaries in the face. Along the way he has joined Team Evo to facilitate his goals.

Looking For: Team Evo CR....!! As well as people to fall for his nice-guy act when he first shows up. Maybe somebody for him to try and steal a Pokemon from...lots of things. Split personality shenanigans.

Character Name: The Rose Duelist (White Rose Chapter) - Harriet Vaughn
Canon Name: Yu-Gi-Oh: The Duelists of the Roses
Brief History: An English Duelist (of the children's card game variety) magically summoned back in time to the 15th Century by the druids of Lancaster. Calling her a Legendary Rose Duelist, they asked her to fight in their War of the Roses. Finding this all very rude and resenting them for taking her from her period time, she left after getting a better deal with their enemy, the Rose Crusaders. She was regarded as a traitor by those who summoned her, and then accidentally helped Seto Kaiba's medieval lookalike summon an ancient evil, but defeated said ancient evil, and went home with a pledge necklace of eternal gratitude.

Personality-wise, Harriet's usually upbeat and friendly, though she can be a bit impertinent. She's the type to bury emotions under a thick blanket of humor and sarcasm; her demeanor may make her seem silly, but she's seen many battles and is ruthless when pushed. She's not exactly a bad person, but she really is selfish in the way she acts.

AU Ideas: Harriet will be a Fairy/Grass Calderan Earthkin, and either a Master of Battle or God of War, haven't quite decided yet.

While Caldera was in a particularly dire spot in their war with Gigas, she was involuntarily consigned to the military to exploit her natural talents. In the midst of an important battle, Team Evo showed up to negotiate peace by convincing people to desert. Since she hated the war, it didn't take much to convince her, and she joined Evo to secure her protection.

Looking For: Team Evo CR, Calderans that recognize or dislike her, Various Other Friends? Anything really!

Anything else?: The character in canon is a blank slate so Harriet's basically an OC, but I kept the Yu-Gi-Oh basis since that stuff is all in her journal anyway.

Character Name: Demon Queen
Canon Name: Maoyuu
Brief History: Demon Queen is the 43rd Demon Lord, who wishes to unite both the human and demon worlds together. She sees their constant warring as pointless and counterproductive and, with the help of Hero and quite a few others, helps progress the human world towards self-sustainability, while telling the demon world to cool their tits.

AU Ideas: Hoo boy, this one's a bit complicated here. I'll try to give the reader's digest version.

- The Maou family is a family of spirit channelers within Sanctuary, a smaller-ish settlement currently annexed by Gigas. They're fairly affluent, despite some... quirks (see next point down).
- The Maous are generally bad news bears. Most of the old family are made of of criminals and tyrants, and they seem to make it a habit of getting exiled. But keep getting invited back because they've probably learned their lesson; this happens every few generations.
- Demon Queen (human name pending, leaning toward Cybille) is not a colossal jerk! However, given Sanctuary's situation, she isn't as "Gigas is bad!" as some. She wants to see a world where all parties can coexist.
- Stuff involving Hiro (Hero), childhood friends, blah blah adorable babbies blah blah
- Demon Queen comes to Union along with Hiro, who is acting as a body guard for reasons.

She will be affiliated with the Seekers, and I hope to get her a job with the University fairly immediately. Her big goal is trying to get everyone to get along, and part of that is using past knowledge stored away through spirit medium stuff to help nudge things along. In-canon, Demon Queen, through the knowledge of the great library, as well as her own intellect, manages to help pull the human world out of the feudal era and, up to the most recent chapter, through the very, very beginnings of an industrialized era. She's done much the same for the demon world, but there are some tribes that are less receptive to her methodology, seeing her as weak.

Her powers will also cause some trouble later on, but that's not necessarily something to worry about at the moment.
Looking For: Students, friends from Caldera (which she would be spending some time in briefly), backers. People that might view her ideas badly as well, as they are pretty progressive. To her, war is a necessary evil, although not one she terribly likes. The whole not viewing Gigas in as poor of light as the rest of Union might create an interesting dynamic as well, although she'll be keeping that view under lock and key most of the time.

Castmates would be so much love, but seriously, who the hell plays from this canon.

Demon Queen Cybille (name pending, still deciding) here isn't a member of TeVo, but she's definitely got some interest in them. While she isn't originally from Caldera, she does spend some time there, particularly with at the Seekers HQ. It's very possible that they've at least run into one another.

As said with Des, it's likely they've at least had a run-in with one another. Cybille (name pending) is a free agent, but has probably had some contact with TeVo, because some of their ideals (but certainly not a lot of their methods) resonate with her want for progress. She probably thinks he's nucking futs, but if he's got some good ideas, she'll at least keep the contact.

Please be to not punching legendaries in the face, we kind of want to avoid another war thanks

Hmm!! Whether Harriet would still spend time in Caldera after deserting their military is debatable, but that may not have been terribly long ago, so it's certainly possible. What do you think of like a year ago?

Hard to say. She does do a lot of traveling, so the possibility exists that they've run into each other that way. I want to say that her coming to Caldera is a reasonably recent thing, and usually she comes and goes.

Haruka is ambivalent about Team Evolution so I'm not sure how much flirting she'll get, actually.

Malik likes to think he has good ideas...some of them might be pretty decent ideas. But thinking he's nuts is more likely than not lmfao. Especially with his fake nice act, his normal attitude, and then his split personality. OOPS... But likewise if he thinks she's competent he'd want to keep contact as well. Help him do whatever free agents do, it is clearly for the greater good. He will make sure she thinks he only has the best, best intentions!!

Character Name: Emeralda Kasim
Canon Name: Xenogears
Brief History: A nanomachine colony/little girl that was stuffed in a tube for a very very long time, then rescued by her reincarnated "parents"/design team. Thawed out and left on her own as one of two "secret" RPG characters. Kind of also has a T-1000 thing going as well.

AU Ideas: Robot seems to work, and I've been sort of looking over God of War. Since her "parents" are in play, probably JUST taken out of the tube, so small, innocent, and blunt.

Looking For: If someone had a wiki with the history that didn't involve me crying and digging out my copy of perfect works, you would be my best friend for like, as long as you want it. But game wise, I'm looking for more kind of in universe crunch ideas, or people who could put up with my terrible tagging schedule I'd love that too! I tend to most of my tagging early since I start work before the sun comes up.

Anything else?: One of these days I'll learn to embed .gif files, in theory.

I'm still sorting out what exactly I'm doing with Musica here, but he's definitely going to be a Caldera native who's recently joined/is looking to join up with the Seekers, so he might have bumped into her! ... Of course there's the distinct possibility she could recognize him as a delinquent kid

...there's a part of me that wants to see him try to steal Hiccup's Snorlax. Because Malik's EXACTLY the kind of idiot who'd take it, realize it's lazy even for a Snorlax, say so, and then get Body Slammed because Heavyweight REALLY doesn't like being called on it.

Character Name: Mikasa Ackerman
Canon Name: Attack on Titan

Brief History: Mikasa was a pretty normal girl until she had her family killed and her own life threatened by a group of abductors. Eren saves her, but only partially; she is forced to stab the last bad guy to keep Eren from getting strangled. In the aftermath, two things come to define her: a kill-or-be-killed mentality, and an emotional/psychological dependance on her family — which becomes the Jaegers, after they adopt her.

AU Ideas: This could be a bit tricky, but I'm planning to play it close to canon, at least in regards to the night Mik loses her family. From what I gleaned, Eren in this game is less crazy violent, so his involvement will be different. The kidnappers (who could be rouge researchers or something) target the Ackermans because both Mikasa and her mom are Enlightened. Basically everything goes down like it does in canon until Eren finds her and the kidnappers.

Rather than kill any of them, Eren manages to incapacitate one of the bad guys and frees Mikasa. Then once he gets in trouble, he urges her to fight back; and despite being young, she's a God of War Enlightened, so she is the one who does the killing and not necessarily on purpose. Of course, since murder is such a big no-no in Union, I'm going to see how all of this flies with the mods and what might happen to a kid who killed a couple dudes in self-defense.

Whatever the case, if it's allowed, the fact that she's taken lives is going to weigh more heavily on her in this AU. She's also going to be less, uh, obsessed with Eren, since in canon she basically refuses to be separated from him, and that just won't work too well for this game based on logistics alone. Her short term goal will still be to join the Rangers, though, and mostly to protect Eren.

Looking For: Hmmmm. I think I'd like for her to have a mentor, particularly among the Rangers. Mikasa tends to be aloof and standoffish, so I wouldn't mind some early CR involving more bubbly, social characters in order to coax the amiability out of her. She's also going to come into the game without any kind of grand goal or purpose, so there's the opportunity for a charismatic leader type to recruit her for reasons that benefit the greater good (or evil, because I'm OK with her being manipulated as well).

Anything else?: Uhhhh nope. Too lazy to gif.
