This is an open testrun meme. Posts here may be used in lieu of a sample entry for any applications. For your convenience, we've provided a few prompts, but feel free to make your own!

1. Team Evolution is looking to set up a new machine test near Union. Are you here to help? Stop them? Observe?

2. A day at the races! Today in the Rhyhorn track, it's a complex course with several barricades, vertical climbs, and downhill slopes. Are you a racer? Spectator? What brings you here this fine day?

3. You're out exploring, be it at sea, or perhaps expanding into new, uncharted territories. Where are you? What are you doing?

4. Pokemon Battle! Perhaps it's training, perhaps you're protecting something important, perhaps you're striking out against something vile. Why are you in this fight and what are you doing?

5. Wildcard! Invent a prompt!

[For the Spectators, it's sure is a hot day at the races. Many of the good seats are sold out to the richer/more noble families, but Alice is different. Herself, along with her dear Cleffa, are under the shade of a fancy umbrella and there is a butler by her side, passing out water and other refreshments for no charge. This is all out of an act for kindness so thirsty? Don't be afraid to ask.]

It's exciting, isn't it?

[Alice just smiles at her Pokémon friend, who cheers in excitement to answer her question. She's watching the races, but having company never hurts.]

[Tragedy strikes! Well, if one is ever passing by the base of the mountains, you will most likely hear the sounds of rocks falling and commotion of Pokémon. On investigating, there is a group of Geodude, lead by a very arrogant Graveler, knocking rocks down the mountains. More rude when there is a small group of Mr. Mimes and their young Mime Jr. children trying to cross to a new area.

There is a flashy dressed woman among the Mr. Mimes, green light covering her hands in the form of shields. She teamed up with a few of the Mr. Mimes to block the rocks with their defenses. Things are looking rough and some of the Mimes are scared, but she just smiled at them as she continue to hold her ground.]

Don't worry. I'll protect you all. Just focus on getting to safety.

[She might need to get help at some point if the Geodudes are starting to pick up their throwing speed.]

[Hopefully they won't have the chance, as an odd sight passes overhead -- a Fletchling carrying an Aron. Suddenly, it lets the Aron go as it drops toward the Graveler as it readies a Metal Claw.

It's followed up by what appears to be beam fire from further away. Asemu is shooting at the Geodude throwing rocks to force them to withdraw.]

Ah!

[That's certainly a surprise. The Geodudes got mixed up with this sudden attack that there is now an opening. The Mime family stopped their barriers in order to keep moving on. Rosetta made sure of it that they are finally in a safe spot to keep moving on.

A Cleffa appears to return her trainer's side, which does belong to the fairy Enlightened as it was playing with the little ones to prevent any tears.]

We should help him, Hoshi. Magical Leaf!

[The baby Pokémon isn't that powerful, but that grass move would certain help as colorful leaves fly straight towards the Rock Pokémon.]

[Well, Magical Leaf was a welcome addition. It would do massive damage to the Geodude and the Graveler, without doing much damage to Asemu's Aron, which was still up there using Metal Claw on anything that got too close.]

Keep using that! We should be able to clear them out!

[He continues firing beams from his rifle.]

[One hand holds her little fairy friend while the other keeps a small shield up, smacking rocks away as the Cleffa continued his attack.]

The Mr. Mimes are safe now so give it your all!

[You know what's better than one Cure with shielding powers? Having two Cures with the same power.

Though right now Sunshine isn't focusing on shielding, she knows Rosetta's got it covered for now. Right now though, someone needs to focus on the Geodudes themselves.

Her own Pokemon partners don't have the type advantage against them, but she does. Having delegated her Togepi and Axew to evacuation duty for the Mimes, Sunshine is looking to put the hurt on the rocks, darting forward ahead of Rosetta's shields, and connecting with the Pokemon through various punches and kicks.]

[Rhyhorns... he's not too comfortable with Rhyhorns. Sure, he thought they were cool when he was younger, big and strong, powerful Pokemon. But now that he's straddling the back of one, who seems a bit temperamental in his opinion, he's not sure he's going to like the bumpy ride that he's obviously going to get.

Why couldn't it have been Arcanines or Rapidashes that were racing today? Why did he sign up for this?

Tentatively, he bends over, trying to give the Rhyhorn a supportive pet on the... uh, rock plates of its arm. He's seen Sora and Kairi try and successfully calm Pokemon down, and Mickey the Houndour is so easy-going when it comes to Riku. But this big lug? He just shakes around, nearly bucking Riku off.]

H-hey. Hey! [He pulls on the reigns, anything to get this giant rock to calm down.] Look, all we need to do is just win this thing and I'll get off your back, okay?

[He knows this isn't exactly a smart move, heading out into the wilds surrounding Union after dark. It is dangerous and stupid, given the amount of wild Pokemon that are out there, but with Riku's typing in play, he's finding it easy to try and avoid some spots where more powerful Pokemon lay. Well that, and Mickey's strong canine nose really helps in determining where to go. Riku is pretty grateful for that.

It's not that he doesn't want to find any new partners - he really does! - but tonight is about trying to train himself and his abilities. The Dark typing is great to see in the dark, but in all honesty, Riku's not at all comfortable with it. His friends all seem comfortable with the hands they were dealt. Sora can even fly and Kairi can heal small wounds, but him? So far, Riku's only found the Dark type to be destructive, leaving him to try and keep it a secret from the others.

So this is practice for him, once he's found a small clearing and had Mickey scout it out for possible wild Pokemon. Once it's safe, he starts simple, pulling some of the shadows around him and gathering it into a small ball just above his hand. It's an exercise in control, and so far, so good.]

[And of course, Sora is there, sitting on the rail as he watches. He isn't participating himself, he didn't really have any Pokemon good for riding or racing. But he's sure that Riku will win! Because Riku always won whenever they compete in anything- so that clearly applied here too!]

[This was such a great idea to come see the Rhyhorn races. It's fun, and it's something that she can drag her sister Ib along to, provided she was successful in that endeavor. However, Mary is not the type to sit still for very long, so after a while she'll have gotten up to walk around--at one point, she even attempts to lean over the side of the railing blocking off the spectators from the racers to try to pet one of the Rhyhorn closest to her.]

Here Rhyhorn, come on, over here... [Mary stop trying to call the Rhyhorn closer over to you, if you're not careful you're gonna end up going over the side of the railing and there is no way an Oddish is gonna be able to stop you from going over it...]

[Mary's got a good feeling about today. Somebody said something about an artist having painted a picture of these woods once, so on the off chance that artist is who she hopes it is, then she should probably investigate this place to find out if there's anything here that will somehow lead back to them.

She's not worried though. She's got her Oddish, and usually she gets along well enough with other Pokemon, so what is there to worry about? (Though, that still doesn't change the fact that it's dangerous for a young lady to be wandering around out here on her own...)]

[Training montage time! Except, not right now. Itsuki's been chosen to lead the charge on a small group of trainees, part of her responsibilities as a student representative at her family's Academy. She has to lead by example, and if these kids want to become Rangers or Guards or whatever they wish, they need to learn how to deal with Wild Pokemon.

And really, she needs the practice herself. Although her brother feels that this trip holds another purpose. "Go on, Itsuki. Go make some new friends!" he says. If only it was that easy.

She's got duties to uphold after all, for making sure this training exercise goes off without a hitch. It seems that some of the kids haven't really been outside the city's walls before, marveling at the site of the mountainside they were trying to climb.

Which is why she's thankful for her Axew as the little dragon gently (or so she thinks) headbutts the lingering students in order to get them moving.] We're almost at the clearing. Please, if you're tired, take it easy but keep going.

[Oh crap, oh crap. Of course, Sora's here to watch. Well, now he can definitely see himself landing face first on the ground.]

Me, trouble? [He scoffs, and somehow that sets the Rhyhorn off again. It takes Riku yet another minute to calm him down and get him under control, and by now, he's seriously starting to doubt his skills here.

And really hoping that no one sees that white knuckled grip he's got on the reigns.] Not at all. I'll get him under control. [His grin isn't as cocky as it used to be, but he's trying to pull it off.] How come you're not racing?

[He watches that Rhyhorn get set off. Yeah that...didn't seem much under control. From what he knows about his friend's Rhyhorn, they weren't exactly the most easy to control. And this one seemed even more tempramental]

Uh...huh. [You keep telling yourself that Riku]

[But he shrugs, fibbing a little]

Oh you know, no reason. I just...didn't feel like it!

[darkbreak]

[He will! Though in response, all he does is sigh. He hasn't tried to put the Mr. Cool act on anyone in over a year and it's just not the same.

That makes him raise an eyebrow, however. Sora, you can lie to the residents of Union, but you can't to your bud.] Somehow, I doubt that. I would have thought you'd be all over this. Racing together like old times.

['Old times' being the cover up for the islands. Except they didn't have Rhyhorns back there, and he almost prefers it that way.]

H-Hey, maybe I've matured! I don't have to compete over everything anymore!

[......okay even he knows he can't really get away with lying to Riku. Especially when he knows it's not like him at all to ever turn down a competition. He looks a bit huffy as he rubs the back of his neck]

What kind of stupid race requires a minimum weight requirement anyway?

[One where the Pokemon could throw a very lightweight person out of the race track, that's what]

[Lea saw the boy slipping out of the walls after dark. As an Analyst, he could tell immediately that he was a dark type. Just like him. Going outside at night, though, that wasn't too smart a move. Lea sends his Darumaka and other Pokémon home, opting instead to just take his Zorua, Robin, with him.

Using Robin's nose, he tracks down the silver-haired kid. But he doesn't announce his presence, instead opting to hide in the shadows way better than a guy with bright red hair has any right to. He may be spotted because of his lightly glowing green eyes, though. He watches the kid use his powers with curiosity]

[Oh goodness, all of this was so fancy, Yayoi didn't know what to do with this! Fancy umbrella! Fancy water! Fancy butler?! Was she dreaming? Alice, you are the best friend for inviting her, she's not even sure how to act!

Dressed in her absolute best--a little orange and yellow dress (surprisingly not second hand!), and usual red pigtails tied into cute buns, Ame the Poliwag sat in her arms.]

[ Of course Ib came along and bring Budew too. She needs a break from studying sometimes and the races are fun to see. It was a good thing she did come. Honestly, Mary, can't she take her eyes off you for a minute? ]

Mary...! [ Her worried expression would be lost on someone not paying attention but at least it should come through in her voice. And the pokemon in her arms flails its tiny feet, unable to do anything else but mimic Ib's emotions. ]

[ It's yet another day spent at the Rhyhorn track. Hotaru wasn't particularly interested, and that showed on her face, but Haruka was racing, and that meant she had to be out there to show her support. Or have a reason to skip schooling. Not that, as an Enlightened, she was often forced to go to school, but it was the principle of the matter.

And so there's a weary twelve-year-old in the stands, arms crossed on top of the railing and chin resting on them, staring out as the pokémon raced. Somebody distract her from the boredom. ]

[ Generally speaking, it was a Bad Idea to head out into the wilderness to explore, at least without ample preparations. Hotaru found, though, that wandering around in her Absol form was generally fairly safe, at least in comparison. Pokémon fighting pokémon was less common than chasing out strange humanoid intruders.

Truth be told, there was supposed to be another one of her father's.... experimental labs, out in this direction. Deep into the forest, where man feared to venture. It had been more than a month since her father's untimely passing, and it seemed only fitting that she try to mop up what was left of his work.

The question is, did she head out this way alone? Or would she run into somebody else this far from the human city? ]

[ And, today, Hotaru was out in the city, browsing the selection of a small antique store she had found. With conveniences becoming more modernized, some people had begun selling their older belongings, while the poorer people could begin to afford more as they became available secondhand. Stores like this had popped up to meet that demand.

This one, though, had a fairly large selection of lamps. Hotaru was absorbed in looking over the selection, throwing a critical glance at every one. No, too large. This one would be too bright. Hotaru preferred her room to be dark, with gentle lighting. She was sure she'd find the perfect lamp, though.

...What a weird thing to collect, amirite? ]

[ Now that their immediate mission has ended and they've returned to the Divine Defense Force's HQ, Haruka has time to do things like amble about the city. It doesn't hurt to stay vigilant, right?

Okay, technically she has play rehearsal. But she has either forgotten about that or has decided her presence isn't required.

Most shops get only a cursory glance from her - Haruka is more of a people-watcher than a window-shopper - but when she spots a familiar head inside an unexpected shop she heads on over. What's she doing out shopping? And in a place like this? Partially she's concerned, but she's also just plain curious. This girl is still a mystery to her in many ways. ]

....Out and about?

[Oh right, his typing.

Riku tries to hide his smirk with a hand, but he can't help but let a snicker or two escape. He feels bad, he really does! But the situation and the look on his face, it's just priceless.]

Sorry, Sora. Forgot about it for a minute there. [Okay, he's got it out of his system now, so Riku drops his hand.] What about other races, like with Ponyta for example? Couldn't you qualify for those?

[Thank goodness. She would help fight the Geodude gang, but some Mr. Mimes can hold their own barriers for so long.

These Geodudes are no easy guys. They're quick without legs and their own punches can hurt if made in contact. Sunshine's kicks do help knock them off their track, but they are still giving it their all as this is their territory and nobody should past. Their boss isn't a pushover either, but he's not fighting just yet.

Her Cleffa came back from evacuation duty to help with the fighting at least, sending a fury of leaves with Magical Leaf right towards the Geodudes to help Sunshine out in the fight.]

[Everything is always better with friends in Alice's book, so of course she invited Yayoi for a fun day. For being gentle and quiet, she's pretty excited and cheering on for the racers today.]

They are! Who do you think is going to win, Yayoi? That shiny Rhyhorn racer is getting so close to the lead!

[darkbreak]

[At least out here, Riku thinks he isn't likely to hurt anyone. He doesn't notice Lea right away, to busy making that little dark ball dissolve and then reform it again.

However, his Houndour is starting to get a little bored out here. It's okay to watch Riku practice, but Mickey would much rather be finding a Pokemon opponent of his own to practice with. So, he's starting to circle the clearing again, nose to the ground to pick up any scents... and that doesn't smell like a Pokémon. There's another human scent nearby!

He barks once to Riku to get his attention and keeps on sniffing, creeping close to Lea's hiding spot. Riku lets releases his little shadow ball in order to follow his Pokémon.] Mickey? What's there?
