AU PLANNING MEME (AUGUST + SEPTEMBER)

Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

Brief History:

Keith is, in this incarnation of his canon, the hot-blooded, sword wielding, socially awkward right-hand of Voltron. He's an ace pilot who got kicked out of Space Military School for having "Disciplinary Issues" and spent a year wandering the desert chasing magic space vibes. He was thrown into the war for the Universe after punching a bunch of scientists, freeing a MIA pilot that had supposedly died in space, and then finding a magical blue robot lion in the desert that flew him and four other nerds to the other end of the Universe.

So now all five of them have magic flying robot lions that form into one great big mecha and they alone stand against the empire that has spent ten-thousand years conquering the universe.

AU Ideas: Okay well, I can't exactly give him a giant robot lion here, but what I am thinking so far is Keith is a Calderan, ex-battalion who got kicked out for similar "disciplinary issues" and spent some time wandering lost in the desert. I have it worked out with a potential Pidge player that she ran across him and they joined up to head to union.

What is lesser known is Keith's "Disciplinary Issues" are largely him throwing an absolute fit after a friend of his goes missing and the military tries to cover it up.

For typing I'm thinking of going with Fire/Fighting/Normal for now and making him a God of War. His final typing will change once some stuff in canon goes down (and he evolves) but it will most likely end up Flying. I am ALSO toying with him being unknowingly enhanced with his mental tick being bloodlust, but that is still on the fence right now. There's some stuff canon hasn't given us about him yet, though we have a lot of strong hints.

Looking For: Pretty much anything. Friends, enemies, anyone for him to get into a fight with. Its all on the table.

Character Name: Veronica Ananko
Canon Name: Luck & Logic
Brief History: Stereotypical Cool-Headed And Quaintly Serious Chief of the Government-Affiliated Monster Fighting Organization who's partnered with a zombie-loving immortal brat goddess. Secretly deadpan (in that "did she just or am I imagining it?" way) and also team mom. Can combine with her partner into Animé Catwoman, except with bombs and a little top hat. Tuxedo Catwoman.

AU Ideas: *Tentative* typing right now is Dark/Fire Child of the Ever-Changing Skies (I might also go Dark/Normal, Dark/Psychic, Dark/Ice...."Dark" I know I want but the rest is ????). If I go with Fire, then she'll have been in-training to operate Glacier's Very Important Lighthouse before bad stuff went down between her instructor/mentor and an Ice-type, resulting in severe mental damage to said mentor and a hatred of all Ice-types in Veronica. If I don't go with Fire this same situation will play out in the military. She'll have realized prior to the game beginning that her irrational dislike for Ice-types is a...detriment....to job performance when you live in Glacier, and will have been transferred to Union to join some form of peacekeeping unit, be it the Swords of the Savior or the Rangers (I'm leaning Swords) as a result.

Also, she knows a whole variety of Pokémon moves with "Ball"/"Bomb" in the name. I'm thinking of especially fooling around with the fact that she can change the weather and the fact that Weather Ball is a thing. A coolheaded fighter uses the entire terrain at her disposal. :P (And then blows it all up. Whoops. Veronica is very good at blowing things up.)

Looking For: Coworkers! Or, well, people who rank either higher or lower than she does in whatever organization she joins in Union. Veronica places a lot of stock in rank so playing with those kinds of relationships - whether it be deferring to a boss or mentoring a smol - would be fun.

It would also be fun if she had some sort of foil for a roommate or neighbor, though. Why app someone serious if you can't surround them by People From Union?

Kirara Amanogawa

Canon Name: Go! Princess Precure
Brief History: Kirara Amanogawa was a teenage supermodel at a fancy private school. Then one day a monster screwed up a show and she became a magical girl. Now she fights other monsters that are created by an evil organization made up of a punk bird, a Rocky Horror Picture Show fanatic and a talking hoodie.

AU Ideas: In this setting I'm thinking of starting her as a Far From Ordinary/Master of Evolution Pokemon Coordinator from Gigas. Somewhat famous if only thanks to being the daughter of and following in the footsteps of the city's foremost Pokemon Coordinator and one of its top battling champions. With the treaty declared between Union and Gigas, she's headed to Union mostly to check out the fashion scene in it and its allied cities and maybe pick up some new routine ideas.

She's Gigan to the core, with the fancy clothes and gadgets and jewelry and very much focused on keeping to her schedule and responsibility and a little wrapped up in her own goals.

As a Gigan, she'll be starting out with at least her starting group of Pokemon in pokeballs (Luxury Balls even, because only the best for her Pokemon) but I plan to change this eventually as Union Happens to her. She treats them well, as well as ball'd Pokemon can be anyway, and cares a great deal for them even if only in the same way one might for a pet, rather than a friend or partner. She battles from time to time but only as a hobby and she tends to end the match quickly if her Pokemon look outmatched.

Looking For: All kinds of stuff welcome. She's a rising star in Gigas so characters can know her by reputation from visits to Gigas, or from living there themselves. Naturally, being a pokeball-slinging heathen there's plenty of chances to butt heads with the idealistic schmucks of Union. Alternately, more patient characters to steer her toward changing her way of thinking in regards to her Pokemon partners.

Character Name: Yoshichika Tsurugi
Canon Name: Luck & Logic
Brief History: Generic Protagonist A who is Actually Competent and is the appointed team leader in a crazy super power anime. His partner is an elegant and cute incarnation of the Goddess of Wisdom, and the two of them can combine forms so that he can have a super awesome cloak/shield/*thing*. He's a specialist in a defensive offence, has a bent on helping everyone to the point of self sacrifice, and is a repeat offender in the case of overclocking himself-- to dangerous consequences.

AU Ideas: I'm planning on Tsurugi here being from Glacier, and an enlightened of both the Psychic and Fighting types that takes nods from Gallade in terms of skills and abilities. I'm not sold on what his 'ability' is yet-- we can negotiate.

He was in Glacier during the incident with Reshiram and took part in the fight, but the incident resulted in him attaining a state like Mega Evolution at a point where he wasn't prepared for it. The aftermath of the fight left him in such bad shape that he practically had to start over as an Enlightened and a Trainer. His former pokemon partners are MIA because of this incident, and his memory of it isn't clear.

Unfortunately, Tsurugi is not the sort to sit still. He ends up meeting a young ralts that he dubs Athena and the two of them head toward Union on the encouragement of his superiors in Glacier. After all, if he's going to be an idiot and try to talk rationally with a rampaging god, he had better go to the city that specializes in idiots like that!

Looking For: Almost any sort of CR. Tsurugi is a character who can fit into any kind of niche, and he's going to need someone to help him pick up the pieces as he gets stronger. The mess with Reshiram left him with a problem that is going to give him a hard time whenever he evolves...and he's going to have a hard time if he ever attains Mega Evolution through proper channels.

Character Name: Raphael (Phantom R)
Canon Name: Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Brief History: A phantom thief known for replacing the paintings he steals ends up stealing an artifact that may lead to answers to his Mysteriously Missing Father. He proceeds to dance his way all over Paris searching for artifacts and information. He gets answers, alright.

Just maybe not the ones he really wanted.

AU Ideas: Okay, so! Raphael's going to be a Normal/Fighting Kindred Soul--I'm not sure from where exactly, but I'm leaning towards Citadel. His mother may have been a Valkyrie and his father's still missing and Raphael's been wanting to search for him. My big issue is what the hell do I do with his Phantom R persona, since he doesn't really have any reason to be a phantom thief in this AU. If anyone's got any suggestions, I'm definitely open to them!

Also his type might change as he evolves, I'm not entirely sure of that yet though.
Looking For: Anything! Friends, rivals, people to mentor him somehow, I'd be happy with just about anything.
