Given the nature of AU, below is a form that can be used for planning purposes when plotting out your character. While it is not required to fill out the form, we encourage you take a look at the listings in this post and use them as a guide when setting up plots or planning character backgrounds.

I'd be so down for having Tim get to know all the girls, kid needs some more Enlightened friends and also peeps just to spend time with. It'd be pretty easy to throw 'em together I'm sure -- one of the many magical properties of teenagers aside from fighting the establishment.

Character Name: Franziska von Karma
Canon Name: Ace Attorney
Brief History: Born in Caldera, Franziska von Karma was raised to be absolutely perfect. It's an impossible standard to live up to, but she's done her best over the years, and at 18, has finally been able to leave her hometown to practice law--and Union, a city full of ideals she reviles, seems like the perfect place to do it. Franziksa is harsh, as unyielding as the steel types she favors in battle, and she hasn't come here to make friends--or do much of anything, other than succeed.

AU Ideas: I'm down with almost anything, to be honest, but I'd like for Franziska to make some friends and learn the meaning of being kind to Pokemon...et cetera. Basically, character development is the name of my game.

Looking For: Other Ace Attorney characters; characters willing to challenge Franziska's beliefs and work with her; essentially anyone willing to interact with a stone cold, angry Calderan prosecutor.

Anything else?: Nope.

Character Name: Gilgamesh Wulfenbach
Canon Name: Girl Genius
Brief History: The son of the man who conquered Europe to end the endless factional fighting. He grew up not knowing who his father was for political reasons. The big thing to consider is the Spark. In this setting, there is a genetic trait that some rare people have called The Spark, which predisposes them to feats of incredible technical brilliance combined with bouts of megalomania and madness. Essentially, it turns you into a mad scientist. Lots of insane laughter and bizarre inventions. Gil is a particularly powerful Spark.

AU Ideas: Electric/Steel Engineer, and the son of a ruthless politician. He only recently learned who his father is, though, thinking himself some bastard son of no one in particular. He's now going to Brentwood academy, still not publicly acknowledged, and is rather infamous for the amount of time he spends around pretty girls of negotiable affection, strong drinks, and disreputable parties.

His enlightened abilities won't show up as any kind of special combat powers but entirely as just enhancing his ability to build cool stuff.

Looking For: Fellow students to have antics with. Politicians who might not like his father to realize who he is. Sincere girls to make him feel weird about his whole "degenerate partymonger" persona. But more than anything else he needs OTHER INVENTORS to bounce ideas off of. He's a scientist first and foremost, who spends most of his time building machines.

Character Name: Sinbad
Canon Name: Adventures of Sinbad/Magi
Brief History: The Son of a poor fisherman and his wife in a war ravaged country, Sinbad was born with such a massive amount of Rukh (life energy) that every high-level magic user in the world felt his presence. After meeting one of them as a teenager, he was encouraged by him to go conqueror a dungeon and claim the power of a Djinn, being that he was a 'king candidate'.

Once he did that and no longer having any ties to his homeland (his parents had died and he became disgusted with his homeland's disregard for human life), he left on a voyage of discovery to gain material and resources to found his own country where people can live in peace without abandoning their identities (which eventually became the country of Sindria in Magi proper).

AU Ideas: Psychic/Dragon Kindred Soul who fled from a far away city-state (TBD), disgusted by the way the rulers ran it, and wandered all over the region, starting to ply his trade as a merchant and has recently arrived in Union to set up a headquarters for his fledgling trade company due to it's location and recent high-profile exposure.

He wants to eventually found his own city, but for now his primary goal is to help encourage peaceful trade and communication between all known civilizations.

Powers wise, he has a subconscious ability to read people's aura/short-term precognition that mostly allows him to avoid danger akin to a Spider-sense. As he evolves, he'll gain some empathy powers that allow him to read people better and gain dragon-like abilities, ending with flight and a "Breath weapon" (more like a charge beam) in his final form.

Sinbad really has no idea his 'good instincts' are really psychic powers in origin.

Looking For: Someone that might twigged onto his subconscious psychic powers and either teach him how to use it properly or least make him aware of them. Traders and Engineers to do business with. Political-types to alternately schmooze and butt heads with, and adventurous people who want to run into trouble with him.

Anything else?: He thinks he's a Casanova, so he's gonna be flirting a lot.

Aside from the inevitably flirting, let me know if the Far Away Land he ends up being from is in the Archipelago, or if he's been there in his travels. I set up some intentionally vague political things in Isabela's background.

(Also I remember the Klaus from Mayfield! I was there for like 10 minutes as Edgar Figaro from FF6 and they talked briefly about science!)

Okay Banzu's not an inventor per se he more goes for the "gradual series of improvements" route, but hey, he's got a boat, a port far enough away from Union that inventions exploding wouldn't annoy the neighbours, and the power to reshape metal with his bare hands. Who knows what could happen!

As previously noted, Banzu has a ship and a port and would be interested in being at least tangentially involved with trading.

Yeah I kept it vague to figure out what the best plot worthy connection, but I'm open to to either being from the Archipelago or having been there. And he's really kind of a meddler if he sees things he don't like, so he's a troublemaker

And given Sinbad used to fish before he had to flee his homeland as well as his current occupation, he would love to help expand the port to better accommodate travel and commerce

Character Name: The Signless (AU name: Khepri Vantas)
Canon Name: Homestuck
Brief History: An alien who is like the unholy allegorical child of Jesus and Moses. A mutant and outcast from his own (hyper-violent and striated) society who was like 'Hey, guys, maybe we could not murder and enslave each other, and also maybe we could stop judging each others' worth based solely on what color blood we were born with (out of a possible 12)'. He lead a philosophical uprising based around this idea, and then was super duper executed for it. Yay!

AU Ideas: So, I know on the test-drive meme I mentioned him being from Caldera, but I've actually decided to nix that and go with Refuge instead. The other citizens of Refuge would take the place of the lowbloods in the society he comes from: the fearful and disenfranchised of the world, who spend a heck of a lot of time hoping they don't get struck down by someone else's wrath.

My idea for him specifically is that he was orphaned at a young age and raised by an adoptive mother (as per canon), and the older he got the more he thought the constant fear and hiding and prayers were mostly just making everyone needlessly depressed. He began to voice ideas like 'hey, guys, maybe we shouldn't constantly be apologizing because of stuff that happened a super long time ago? also maybe we can leave the caverns and live safely in the world again so long as we live our lives nonviolently and with respect for things that aren't us????'. Much like in canon he went against established societal norms (and what passed for Refuge religion) in pioneering a new radical philosophy based around compassion and the idea that everyone has the potential to be a good person. Eventually this caught on due to his skills as an orator, and he led a small like-minded group of people up and out of the caves entirely.

Potentially he'd already secretly been venturing up and out beforehand and came back with amazing stories of how nice stuff was aboveground? In canon he lived much of his life traveling on foot around a dangerous wilderness other trolls were afraid to go, and since he'd be a Kindred Soul I can see him being less likely to be attacked outside of the caves.

At any rate they went on a magical mystery tour of the surface world and eventually wound up in Union! Huzzah.

Looking For: Anything, really! Especially someone to get him really entrenched in the current goings-on with Gigas, which he would definitely latch onto as Not Okay And Something To Be Fixed. If there's anyone else from Refuge currently in-game, perhaps we could work out some backstory?

In all seriouness though, this guy is a lot more cognizant of his own abilities and might be able to spot something similar in Sinbad if the opportunity came up.

Oh that is definitely a possibility, and how would Signless feel about the kind of guy who would run off and get into trouble just because he can?

Depends on how/why he was getting in trouble! But Signless himself does some pretty crazy, dangerous things (in canon AND in the au backstory I'm working out for him), so he wouldn't have too much room to judge.

You know I realized, in the backstory I'm working out for him that I've posted up here, I have him wandering around a bit before settling in Union. What if they'd previously met up briefly then?

Character Name: Mako Mankanshoku
Canon Name: Kill la Kill
Brief History: The oldest daughter of a backalley doctor from a poor family in a city where life standards is based upon their child's prowess in school, Mako found her whimsical life changed when she met the badass delinquent chick who blew in out of nowhere. She is whimsical and air-headed, and somehow remains untouched by the chaos that surrounds her... and she, too, embraces her inner delinquent when she has the means to fight.

AU Ideas: I'm envisioning Mako as someone who is from outside of Union, likely Caldera, and is a Pancham shifter who somehow managed to wander south with only the family pet (likely a Lilipup) in her search for something a little nicer for her family. I'm down for plotting and coordinating with people-- random is this girl's game!
