Player Plot: The Great Pokémon Race!
Hi folks, Mari here. I mentioned this plot on the CR meme and now I'm ready to unveil it properly: in two weeks or so, Haruka will be serving as spokesperson for a Pokémon race! If your character can fit on their Pokémon's back and that Pokémon lives on land (no fish or birds in this round, sorry!), they're eligible to enter.
The race will take place in the Rhyhorn racing arena, and like Rhyhorn racing, it'll be an obstacle course: the first Trainer/Pokémon pair to successfully navigate the obstacles and make it across the finish line wins. More detailed rules are as follows:
-- All Pokémon must be land-based and large enough to support a Trainer riding on top of them.
-- Using special attacks is not allowed and is grounds for disqualification.
-- So is interfering with or attacking other racers. This includes tampering with their gear before the race, trying to run them over, etc.
-- Breaking or skirting the obstacles results in extra time being added on to that racer's score.
-- Use of status-enhancing Items is prohibited before and during the race.
-- Basic race etiquette applies: no jumping the gun at the start line, paying off opponents, etc. Be a good sport!
Those without large enough Pokémon are welcome to help moderate the race, sit in the stands, or participate in one of three mini-races taking place before the main event. These races will be run in an adjacent arena and are for Pokémon who aren't large enough for the main race; unlike the main race, however, there are separate courses for small Flying- and Water-type Pokémon. (Amphibious Pokémon can only register for one of these races.)
All participating Pokémon will receive a Berry of their Trainer's choice. First, second, and third prizes will be awarded for the main race; first prizes will be awarded in the mini-race. The prizes are:
First prize, main race: A medal enhanced with the Flying-type. The Pokémon wearing this medal will be capable of running even faster.
Second prize, main race: One Type-Enhancing item of the Trainer's choice.
Third prize, main race: A Razor Claw.
First prize, mini-race (3 available): A Plush Poké Doll. (This is a new Item!)
Haruka is serving as the "face" of the event, the main referee, and the master of ceremonies; I'll have an IC post up within the next few days. Characters can register by talking to her and/or signing up here - please list your character's name, their Pokémon's name, and their Pokémon's species. (It'd also be cool to meet an Engineer willing to create one or more of the prizes.) There's no deadline for signups, and you can 'drop in' on the race without signing up if you want. I just want to get an idea of what Pokémon will be participating so I can design interesting obstacles. :)
If after about a week of play no winner has been threaded out, I'll RNG everyone who's tagged in to determine the winners. Questions, obstacle requests, and other suggestions are also always welcome! I hope this turns out fun.

Hotaru is going to be helping out too (we decided on plurk she'd get to wave the flag at the finish line), so this race can turn into some A+ theater advertisement while they're at it.
That, or Haruka's going to get accused of breaking child labor laws.no subject

Re: Questions/Comments/Suggestions
2)Which mini race would Floette be eligible for? Flying? (sorry floette you'll never win against mons with wings)
no subject
1) The limit is one Pokémon per Trainer per race, but that same Trainer can have Pokémon in all four races if he/she chooses. If it comes down to RNG I will probably reroll if the same Trainer wins more than half the races, though.
2) Since Floette is likely more comfortable floating than running, if you think she could reach a course set high in the sky she's welcome to sign up for Flying. Otherwise, she can just float/run close to the ground in the Land race. Your call with what she'd feel most comfortable doing. :)

Pokémon Name: Rock
Pokémon Species: Rhyhorn
Yes, Rise has a Rapidash and is entering a Rhyhorn. I'm going to go tag your IC post right now so Haruka can guilt her into representing the NOBLE ART OF RHYHORN RACING assuming Haruka herself is busy with hosting things.
